Rock Kills Kid, the Shys, and Monsters Are Waiting will take the stage Oct. 17 for the “Pimpin’ for Progress: Where Policymakers Meet Punk Rock” event at Los Angeles’ Knitting Factory. The “awareness raiser” is presented by the Young Progressive Majority, a social network of 1,500 youths in L.A. committed to increasing the vote for progressive candidates and issues. Thirty-three year-old L.A. City Councilman Alex Padilla will be the keynote speaker at the event, which will be hosted by the cast of Comedy Central’s Dog Bites Man.

The event starts at 7 P.M. Tickets are $15 and are available on the Knitting Factory’s web site.
