Lupe Fiasco ‘Daydreamin” About Skateboards, Robots
See where the rapper is transported when he falls asleep "amid the flowers / for a couple of hours" in his new video.
With visions of skateboards and robots, Chicago-based emcee Lupe Fiasco’s clip for “Daydreamin'” (featuring Jill Scott) off Food & Liquor includes few of hip-hop videos’ thugged-out touchstones. The clip is somewhat of a virtual playground for the rapper, as it follows Fiasco as he skates up to a patron-less novelty shop where records come to life with Jill Scott’s visage and a giant robot does, well, the robot. And it’s no surprise the video is somewhat unconventional considering that in the bluesy track, which is as propulsive as it is smoky, the rapper derides the excesses of his fellow emcees, rhyming, “Now come on everybody, let’s make cocaine cool / We need a few more half-naked women up in the pool.”
