Thanks to Natalie Portman, the Shins changed Zach Braff’s life, then headed back into the studio to record a new album, which will see daylight on January 23 via Sub Pop, according to the band’s official site. “Trust us, if we had our way it would be out next week, but ‘The Man’ has seen fit to do otherwise,” the band joked. “The good folks at Sub Pop have scheduled this like a finely tuned machine, and we have all the confidence in the world that January is the magic month for a reason.” The band debuted new material at last month’s Lollapalooza festival (read more), and has scheduled appearances at next weekend’s Austin City Limits festival and New York’s CMJ Music Marathon in early November.
