R.E.M. Reunite with Ex-Drummer, Again

Bill Berry will rejoin the band he played with for 17 years when R.E.M. are inducted into the Georgia Music Hall of Fame on Sept. 16 in Atlanta. The band plans to perform three songs at the ceremony. Berry last hit the skins with Michael Stipe, Peter Buck, and Mike Mills at the wedding of longtime R.E.M. roadie Dewitt Burton last October, and has played with them only one other time since he departed in 1997. While on tour in 1995, Berry suffered a brain aneurysm that required surgery and ultimately led to his retirement. R.E.M. has never officially replaced him, recording their last few albums as a trio.
