Haunted Video from Califone

Chicago-based Americana blues-rockers Califone won’t drop Roots & Crowns until Oct. 10, but they’ve already filmed a video for that album’s “Spider’s House.” The clip flickers along in stark contrast to the smooth tones of the song, which is delicately murky and fueled by swollen horns and dreamy vocals. Despite this disparity, the video does stay true to the song’s title. It features a wooden skeleton, a boney doll, and cameos by some rampant chickens, but the only living thing really occupying the haunted, paint-chipped house that’s the centerpiece of the clip are, in fact, spiders.
