Chilis, Peas Lead AMA Noms

As award season rolls on, the American Music Awards have announced their nominees for the best artists and albums. Leading the nominees this year are the Red Hot Chili Peppers and the Black Eyed Peas, who each earned three nods. RHCP are up in the Pop/Rock category for Favorite Band, Duo or Group and Favorite Album for Stadium Arcadium, as well as Favorite Artist in the Alternative Music category. The Peas could win in the Rap/Hip-Hop category for Favorite Band, Duo or Group and Favorite Album for Monkey Business, and Favorite Band, Duo or Group in the Soul/R&B category. Also up for three nods apiece are Mariah Carey and Nickelback.

Kanye West is among the artists who received two nominations. The rapper earned nods for Favorite Male Artist in the Pop/Rock category and Favorite Male Artist in the Rap/Hip-Hop category. Kelly Clarkson tied West, earning bids in the category of Pop/Rock for Favorite Female Artist and in the Adult Contemporary category for Favorite Artist.

Other nominees include Nick Lachey, Nelly Furtado, Pussycat Dolls, Chris Brown, NE-YO, Mary J. Blige, Eminem, T.I., Three 6 Mafia, Shakira, and Chamillionaire.

The AMAs will take place Nov. 21 at 8 PM (ET/PT) at the Shrine Auditorium in Los Angeles, and will be broadcast live on ABC.
