Rock Kills Kid Singer Nabs Burglar

Rock Kills Kid frontman Jeff Tucker thwarted a burglar who tried to steal his possessions, including a wallet, cell phone, credit card, and room key, from his Honolulu hotel room Aug. 6. The singer, in town with his band to perform at the Band Camp Festival a day earlier, woke up at 5:30 A.M. and saw the intruder standing over him. “At first I thought I was dreaming,” Tucker said in a statement. “Second, I thought it was a hotel worker putting towels in the room. I looked at him and said ‘hello’ and he bolted.” Tucker and Rock Kills Kid manager Rodney Afshari chased the burglar down the street, confronted him, and held him until police arrived. Police placed 20-year-old Brandon Riester, a member of the U.S. Navy, under arrest. Officials allege Riester climbed onto Tucker’s fifth-floor balcony and entered the room via a sliding door. If convicted, Riester could face several years in prison.
