Pink Reworks Joan Jett for NFL

For her new project, Pink has chosen an unlikely collaborator: The NFL. The singer has teamed up with NBC Sports to create the opening song for NBC Sunday Night Football. In it, Pink sings a reworked version of Joan Jett’s classic track, “I Hate Myself for Loving You,” which has been turned into “Waiting All Day for Sunday Night.” The song will make its television debut Sept. 10 on NBC’s first Sunday Night Football broadcast when Peyton Manning of the Indianapolis Colts takes on little brother Eli of the New York Giants. Fans can hear a different version of the song Sept. 7 when the NFL season kicks off with the Pittsburgh Steelers hosting the Miami Dolphins. Diddy and Rascal Flatts will perform during the season-opening festivities.

“This is something so different for me, it’s like hearing yourself on the radio for the first time,” Pink said in a statement. “I’m such a huge football fan that it’s a great time.”

Talk: Can Pink’s anthem top Monday Night Football’s “Are You Ready for Some Football”? COMMENT
