Panic Talk VMA Nominations

Panic! at the Disco are up for five MTV Video Music Awards — the same number as MTV icon Madonna — and lead singer Brendon Urie is understandably excited. “It wasn’t really expected, and we’re really looking forward to being there,” Urie told SPIN.com. The video for the band’s debut single, “I Write Sins Not Tragedies,” earned them nominations in the Video of the Year, Best Group Video, Best Rock Video, Best New Artist in a Video, and Best Art Direction in a Video categories. The band are also set to play live at the awards show, alongside acts like Justin Timberlake and T.I. “We’re going to try to do something huge,” Urie said of the band’s plans for their performance. And don’t expect them to be wallflowers on the red carpet either. “We’re pretty flamboyant with the costumes we like to wear on stage, so I’m sure [our outfits] will be pretty unique and exciting.” Panic may technically be newcomers, but their debut album, A Fever You Can’t Sweat Out has already been certified platinum.
