Man Charged with Murder in Metal Fan Death

The man who allegedly attacked a fan at a Family Values Tour date was bound over to Fulton Superior Court on felony and aggravated assault charges on Tuesday (Aug. 22), according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Bond was posted at $40,000 for 25-year-old Michael Scott Axley. According to Atlanta police, concertgoer Andy Richardson, 30, was punched in the head by Axley during the Deftones’ performance at the Korn-headlined show in Atlanta’s HiFi Buys Amphitheater on July 30, hit his head on the concrete floor, and was punched twice more as hey lay unconscious. Judge Richard Hicks also ordered Axley to stay out of Fulton County except to visit his lawyer, imposed a dusk curfew, and said Axley may not consume alcohol while free on bond.

Just over a week after the attack, the tour’s public relations team issued a press release touting the massive success of the Family Values Tour, pointing out the record number of attendees at the Atlanta show.

Talk: Do you think sending out a press release about the success of the show was insensitive? COMMENT
