Christmas Comes Early for Aimee Mann Fans

Aimee Mann has completed a Christmas album that will be released on…Halloween. The songstress, whose music has an oft-melancholy vibe, will tackle standards from the cheer-filled holiday on One More Drifter in the Snow, which will be released via her own SuperEgo Records label. “I wanted to do a Christmas record that reflected the whole range of emotions that people have around Christmas,” Mann said in a statement. “I thought a lot about the feeling I had about Christmas as a kid, the almost spooky beauty and mystery that the holiday has, and wanted to do something that echoed that musically.” With no snow in sight, Mann drew inspiration from the Peanuts Christmas special and Johnny Mathis’ Merry Christmas. “That’s why I wanted to make sure at least half of the songs on the record were classic Christmas standards that everybody knows,” Mann said. Some of those standards include “I”ll Be Home For Christmas” and “Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas.”

The singer plans to embark on a brief tour following the release of the album with dates to be announced soon. For now, fans can catch her at one of her upcoming acoustic shows.
