The children’s television series from quirky song parodist “Weird Al” Yankovic will be released on DVD Aug. 15. Though The Weird Al Show only aired for one season in 1997-1998, all 13 of its episodes will be turned into a three-disc box set that includes bonus footage like animation storyboards and a karaoke version of the show’s theme song. We can expect ukulele-fueled jams and spoofs of once-popular television sitcoms (one skit is entitled French Prince of Bel Aire and finds “Weird Al” sporting Napoleon garb). And, of course, like his recent satirical take on sensitive-guy rocker James Blunt (read more), there’ll be more cheeky versions of ubiquitous songs.
