Climb Aboard the Cobra Starship

Midtown lead singer Gabe Saporta has joined forces with Maja Ivarssen from the Sounds, William Beckett from the Academy Is…, and Travis McCoy of Gym Class Heroes to form Cobra Starship, and their first single, “Snakes on a Plane (Bring It),” is the title track to this summer’s Samuel L. Jackson comedy, Snakes on a Plane. The film’s soundtrack is being compiled by the Pete Wentz-helmed Decaydance label. Look out for Cobra Starship’s debut, which will be released in the fall, following closely behind the August 18 release of Snakes on a Plane.

Fun Fact: According to MTV.com, the band’s name was a merger of Saporta’s two favorite jackets: one that had the word “Cobra” printed on it and another that said “Starship Disco.”
