Pete Doherty Detained in Sweden

Police in Stockholm, Sweden fined Pete Doherty on Saturday (June 17) after they found traces of cocaine in his blood. The singer was detained after his band Babyshambles performed at the Hultsfred music festival because “he showed signs of being under the influence of narcotics,” a police spokesman told The Associated Press. When Doherty’s blood was tested, it showed traces of cocaine and the tranquilizer benzodiazepine (for which he had a prescription). Doherty was fined $1,900 for the presence of cocaine in his blood, but, as he had no illegal drugs on him, he will not face further charges.

Doherty had checked himself into rehab in Portugal earlier this month in a bid to get clean.
