Ludacris, Kanye Win Copyright Case

Ludacris and Kanye West won their copyright infringement trial on Thursday after a jury determined they did not steal ideas for their 2003 hit single, “Stand Up.” New Jersey rap group I.O.F. had claimed that “Stand Up” was similar to their 2001 song, “Straight Like That,” because both tracks repeated the words “like that” more than 80 times. I.O.F. plans to appeal the decision. Ludacris was happy to put the incident behind him. “I feel no sympathy [for I.O.F.],” he said, “not at all.”
