Cate Blanchett Plays Bob Dylan?

Cate Blanchett has signed on to play a young Bob Dylan in the upcoming biopic, I’m Not There. The actress is the only female among the seven actors who will portray the iconic singer; each has been cast to represent different aspects of Dylan’s personality, according to reports. Blanchett, who will portray Dylan as an androgynous folk singer, joins Heath Ledger, Richard Gere, and Christian Bale in the cast. The White Stripes, Aimee Mann, P.J. Harvey, and Michael Stipe will record Dylan songs for the film. Todd Haynes (Velvet Goldmine) will direct, and production begins in Montreal this July.
