Virgin on Top for MTV Movie Awards

The nominees for the 2006 MTV Movie Awards are in and — unsurprisingly for a show that features categories like “Sexiest Performance” and “Best Kiss” — the leaders of the pack are the hilariously lewd comedies Wedding Crashers and The 40-Year-Old Virgin.

Those films earned five nominations a piece, including Best Movie (both films) and Best Comedic Performance (Steve Carell in Virgin, Owen Wilson in Crashers), according to MTV News.

Batman Begins, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Hustle & Flow, Sin City and Star Wars: Episode III — Revenge of the Sith came in on their heels with three nominations a piece.

Reese Witherspoon got a nod in the Best Performance category for her role as the quirky June Carter in Walk the Line, and will battle Terrence Howard, who played a hustler-turned-rapper in Hustle & Flow, for the prize.

Meanwhile, in the rapper-turned-actor crew, Andre “3000” Benjamin was nominated for Breakthrough Performance for his role in Four Brohters, while Nelly got a nod in the same category for The Longest Yard. Beyonce Knowles was nominated for Sexiest Performance for her role in The Pink Panther.

Representing for bubbly blondes are Jessica Simpson, who is up for Best On-Screen Team with her Dukes of Hazzard co-stars Johnny Knoxville and Seann William Scott and Sexiest Performance, and Paris Hilton who earned a nod in the Best Frightened Performance category for her role in House of Wax.

The MTV Movie Awards will air on Thursday, June 8 at 9 pm ET/PT.
