Pics of Doherty Injecting Drugs Emerge

It’s been a full week since our last story on Pete Doherty and we here at SPIN.com breathed a collective sigh of relief this morning that our favorite train wreck was perhaps getting his life back on track. Then this item popped up and once again, everything seemed right in the tabloid world.

London’s Metropolitan Police force announced today that it would launch an investigation into tabloid newspaper photos that seem to show Doherty injecting himself and an unidentified woman full of drugs, according to The Associated Press. The photos in question ran in the UK tabloid The Sun on Friday (April 28) and allegedly show Doherty at his London home sometime in the last five weeks, holding a needle to the arm of a woman lying on the floor and then later holding one to his own arm.

It was a similar incident that caused Doherty’s former girlfriend, Kate Moss, to tumble from grace when photos of Moss cutting lines of cocaine at a studio where Doherty was recording appeared in a British tabloid. Luckily for Pete, who has been in and out of court on drug charges for the last several months, he’s got less of a distance to fall.

Members of the Specialist Crime Directorate are currently investigating The Sun‘s allegations, according to the AP. We will, of course, keep you posted.
