A Marvin Gaye biopic called Sexual Healing is in its early production stages, NME.com reports. Gaye’s life was rife with the kind of drama that biopics are made of: He had a well-documented cocaine problem and died by the hands of his own father in 1984. Sexual Healing will star Law & Order/Rent hunk Jesse L. Martin. Sexual Healing‘s director, Lauren Goodman, gushed to The Hollywood Reporter about Gaye’s legacy. “More than just being the voice of a generation, Marvin Gaye proved to be its very heartbeat,” Goodman said. The film will focus on the years leading up to Gaye’s untimely death just shy of his 45th birthday.
