Boy George Stands Trial

He may be “Boy” George, but he’s being criminally charged like a man: The former Culture Club frontman appeared in NYC court today for accusations of cocaine possession.

The court date stems from an incident last fall, when Boy George (nee George O’Dowd) allegedly placed a false burglary call into the NYPD. When the police came, they claim to have found George incoherent along with 13 bags of cocaine. According to Reuters, George maintains his innocence, claiming the drugs were left at his apartment by friends and hangers-on. “In the strongest possible terms, George maintains his innocence,” George’s lawyer, Lou Freeman, said. “He’s going to fight them all the way.” If George is convicted, he could face up to 15 years in prison.
