Weezer to Release Live DVD

With frontman Rivers Cuomo ditching “Beverly Hills” for the chillier climes of Cambridge, Mass., where he’ll be finishing up his Harvard degree, Weezer is going on temporary hiatus, and releasing a live DVD in the meantime. The band’s official website says the DVD, which will be released sometime in 2006, was filmed at a concert in Japan and will include behind the scenes footage. Even though the rest of Weezer isn’t hitting the books down east, they’re keeping busy. Guitarist Brian Bell recorded a cover of the Velvet Underground song “Heroin” for the upcoming Edie Sedgwick biopic Factory Girl, and bassist Scott Shriner is hosting Rock ‘N’ Roll Bingo, a charity bingo event in Hollywood, on January 19.
