Foo Fighters Get Unplugged

With the members of Foo Fighters getting older, they’re not so into Fighting anymore: Dave Grohl and company are taking it down a notch with an acoustic tour later this year, says drummer Taylor Hawkins. On their current tour, the Foo Fighters have mostly been playing the harder tracks from their recent double album, With Honor, but the album’s second disc included all acoustic songs. “Instead of going out there and sweating my butt off every night, I’ll be playing with my brushes quietly and stuff,” drummer Taylor Hawkins told MTV.com. “I think it’ll be good for us, though, as musicians, to go out and explore that dynamic.”

Hawkins will be exploring quite a bit this spring. His side project, Taylor Hawkins and the Coattail Riders, will be releasing a debut album March 6. As for Hawkins songwriting abilities, the toothy blonde is quite modest. “To be honest, the lyrics suck,” Hawkins said of an acoustic song he wrote for With Honor called “Cold Day in the Sun.” “It’s more about the melody.”

No word yet on specific dates for the Foos acoustic tour, but it will have to wait until after Hawkins finishes his tour with the Coattail Riders.
