Strokes Leak ‘Secret’ Club Shows

How come secret shows are never really much of a secret anymore? On their upcoming international publicity tour, the Strokes will be playing several clandestine shows in small clubs. Billboard.com reports that the shows will begin on November 14 in Tokyo. After that, the Strokes will hit Sydney, London, Paris, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Berlin, Milan, and Madrid. The new year will see the Strokes back in the U.S., playing small venues in major American cities to coincide with the January 3 release of their third album, First Impressions of Earth; a tour of major U.S. venues will follow in February. Strokes guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. told Billboard.com about the club blitz: “We’ll do eight songs and leave, just like how it was with the first record, with no one knowing any of our music.” “Juicebox,” the first single from First Impressions, is currently No. 13 on Billboard’s Modern Rock Chart.
