Maybe Kaiser Chiefs’ keyboardist Peanut Baines needs some light salting: According to their website, the Kaiser Chiefs cancelled a handful of shows in Spain thanks to a “highly contagious and rare virus.” The mystery illness in question has “led to an enforced cancellation of all Kaiser Chief gigs this week until each of the band has the all-clear following medical tests.” The shows cancelled were part of a traveling festival called the Wintercase Tour which includes performances in Valencia, Barcelona, Madrid, and Bilbao. The Wintercase Tour will continue without the Chiefs on hand, but don’t worry too much about Peanut, singer Ricky Wilson, or any of the rest of the gang. They haven’t come down with the dreaded bird flu. A spokesperson for the Kaiser Chiefs assured SPIN.com that the band will be just fine and they’ll resume touring as soon as possible.
