Gorillaz Take Manchester, Prep Holographic Live Show

As previously reported, all of Gorillaz official members and collaborators from this year’s Demon Days — including Happy Mondays’ Shaun Ryder and Roots Manuva — will unite for a special series of live performances, and now the location has been revealed: Manchester. The band will perform the entirety Demon Days over five consecutive nights, Nov. 1-5, at the Manchester Opera House. The event is also set to help announce the 2007 Manchester International Festival.

The Manchester residency should also drum up some publicity for the projected 2007 premiere of the Gorillaz’ three-dimensional holographic live performances, one that will feature stunning 3-D projections of the band’s now-famous cartoon alter-egos. Animators have already begun work on the immense project, and expect to have a sample of the show as early as late this year.
