Voodoo Fest Considers Future in Katrina Aftermath

The Voodoo Music Experience, slated to take place in New Orleans on October 28 and 29, might have to take a hiatus this year due to the massive destruction wrought by Hurricane Katrina. The Voodoo Fest was supposed to host Nine Inch Nails, Queens of the Stone Age, the Decemberists, the Secret Machines, and tens of other bands. As of now, festival organizers issued a statement: “The entire staff for the Voodoo Music Experience are sending their thoughts and prayers to the people of New Orleans… At this devastating and trying time across the southeast, organizers for the two-day event are awaiting guidance from city and state officials, as New Orleans faces an extensive rebuilding process.” If the event takes place, this will be its sixth year in New Orleans.
