Pete Doherty Jailed; Babyshambles Prep Live DVD/CD

Ending a lengthy streak, and surely a personal record sans trouble with London's boys in fluorescent yellow, bottomless-toxin-pit and Babyshambles frontman Pete Doherty, 29, was arrested today (April 8) and will remain in jail for up to 14 weeks for breaching terms of his probation, Reuters reports.

New Video: The National, 'A Skin, A Night'

More than two years after the National began working on their moody, meticulous fourth album The Boxer, a 60-minute film has emerged to offer an arty, microscopic view into the recording efforts and personal dramas behind the quintet's benchmark record. A visual masterwork in itself (that is, if the trailer is any evidence), French filmmaker Vincent Moon's A Skin, A Night utilizes insightful, voyeuristic methods while capturing arty and poignant images and insightful yet anxious in-the-studio shots. And to top it off, the film's linear editing is as smooth and transcendental as the album itself. Now Watch This: A Skin, A Night trailer A Skin, A Night arrives on DVD May 20 alongside The Virginia EP, a 12-track collection of demos, live performances, radio sessions, and B-sides. The Virginia EP tracklisting: 1. "You've Done It Again, Virginia" (Previously unreleased)2.

    Colin Meloy

What? Heading the Decemberists, Colin Meloy's unadorned vocals and story-tale ramblings peak with orchestrated whimsy. But strip away the instrumentation, and you have Colin Meloy Sings Live!, an equally wistful collection of tunes recorded during Meloy's 2006 solo tour, out today (April 8) via Kill Rock Stars. With songs spanning his career (sans The Crane Wife), plus covers (Smiths, R.E.M., Pink Floyd) and previously unreleased tunes -- including the "worst song I've ever written," the hilarious "Dracula's Daughter" -- Live! is the gregarious troubadour at his best -- engaging fans in comical banter, and reciting his tales in buccaneer's-got-the-blues melodies. Oddly epitomizing the entire record: at one point, Meloy jokingly introduces a stuffed animal sheep, a skull, and a toy ship, all which accompany him onstage. Who?

Feist Nabs Five Junos, Bob Dylan Bestowed Pulitzer Prize

Last night (April 6) during a ceremony in her hometown of Calgary, Alberta, Spin's Breakout of the Year in 2007, quirky singer/songwriter Feist, was awarded five Junos, the Great White North's equivalent to America's Grammy, reports Reuters (via the Daily Swarm). Though Feist, also a member of admired indie rock collective Broken Social Scene, was shunned at the 2008 Grammy Awards, she won the statue in the single of the year category with "1234," which hit viewers en masse via Apple's iPod TV ads, and also walked with awards for album of the year (The Reminder), and artist and songwriter of the year. In other awards news, the Pulitzer Prize board, which regularly rewards excellence in print journalism, honored revered folk and country rock icon Bob Dylan, 66, for his "profound impact on popular music and American culture, marked by lyrical compositions of extraordinary poetic power" i

RZA Unveils New Bobby Digital Album; Radiohead Plot Second North American Tour Leg

Wu-Tang Clan constituent RZA will return to his futuristic, robotic Bobby Digital moniker this summer with the July 1 release of Digi Snax. [Via Pitchfork] After this morning's announcement placing Radiohead at the top of the Lollapalooza bill, the Oxford fivesome have unveiled the second leg of their North American tour, set to roll out at none other than the Chicago-based festival Aug. 1, and then hit cities across the Eastern Seaboard and West Coast.

Radiohead, Kanye West Top Lollapalooza Bill

New Video: The Last Shadow Puppets, "The Age of the Understatement"

Placing the wham-bam punk gems of their respective bands on hold, the Arctic Monkeys' Alex Turner and the Rascals' Miles Kane -- as you may have heard -- have joined forces for new studio-centric project the Last Shadow Puppets. And with the music video for first single "The Age of the Understatement," the size of the duo's departure comes into full scope. Clearly influenced by studio wonder Scott Walker, the tune recalls many a James Bond film, and the mysterious and elegant yet powerful soundtracks full of crescendos and forward movement. Adding to the Bond factor, the video takes on a heavy Russian feel, pairing footage of military personnel with the tune's wartime chants, as well illustrating late night escapades in Eastern Block cities, and wartime tanks rolling through snow-covered fields.

New Video: Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltsin, "Think I Wanna Die"

Poppy and candid she-dumped-me-and-now-my-life's-over ballads are in short supply these days, but "Think I Wanna Die," a tune off Someone Still Loves You Boris Yeltin's acclaimed new album Pershing (read the review), rekindles all that's wonderful about sugar-coated, '50-tinged melodrama and heartbreak. But its video on the other hand, ends in misfortune for the love-struck band members. Against a faux-forest background, frontman Philip Dickey laments, "Think I wanna die if you don't stay / you'll never know what you do to me," as a series of clips illustrate young ladies -- played by the girls from the band Eisley -- dissing their respective guys, who evidently all enjoy bike rides and breakfast foodstuffs. "We wanted to make a video about action, adventure, friendship and loyalty. And girls. That's how Eisley got involved," says Dickey.
