"We're going in the studio in June to start working on the record," Gibbard told MTV. "We're going to be recording through the summer and into the fall... we're probably looking for a spring 2011 release." Better yet, Death Cab don't intend to slow down anytime soon. EXCLUSIVE: Unreleased MUTEMATH Song

New Orleans-based quartet MUTEMATH may be in for some fun in the sun at this weekend's Coachella festival, but the guys recently got serious for a Haiti benefit concert they held in their hometown last month. They even played a brand new song -- watch video of "The Fight" below. Though "The Fight" was originally penned about the devastation in New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina, its message also applies to Haiti, a nation attempting to pick up the pieces in the wake of January's 7.0 magnitude earthquake. And it's very moving, with a somber first verse. "The years have stolen my innocence / It's hard to pay the price for this," Paul Meany sings, with quiet accompaniment to his vocals and piano.

Courtney Love Prefers Gosling, McAvoy to Play Kurt

Now that her manager denied rumors that Twilight star Robert Pattinson had been cast as Kurt Cobain in an upcoming biopic, Courtney Love is suggesting her own ideas. "Isn't that so stupid? Who would cast him?" Love told The Canadian Press about the idea of Pattinson player her late husband. "That's just wrong, no offense." So who would Love approve in a film portrayal of the Nirvana story? Scottish actor James McAvoy (Atonement) is one of her picks -- and so is Ryan Gosling (Lars and the Real Girl), who comes equipped with rocker credentials after dropping a debut album with his band Dead Man's Bones last fall.

Weezer, Kid Cudi, Uffie to Guest on Steve Aoki Album

His DJ sets have been criss-crossing genres for years, so it's no surprise to see electronic maven/label owner Steve Aoki rope in names like Weezer, Black Star, and Kid Cudi to collaborate on his upcoming album. Although the title and release date are still unknown, Aoki gave MTV a few hints about the album: "I'm doing a couple of different tracks with some familiar voices. Just mixing it up with some hip-hop vocals, rock vocals, house vocals.

    WATCH: Rihanna Rocks 'American Idol'

This season's cast of American Idol was given a crash course in performance Wednesday night when superstar Rihanna showed up to debut her new single, "Rockstar 101." The 21-year-old diva donned a catsuit and sauntered around the eye-popping set, which featured skulls, lightning bolts, and elaborate pyrotechnics. The song showed off Rihanna's sexy swagger -- even if she had to edit out some of its racier lyrics. Bonus: She picked up a black Flying V guitar toward the end of the performance... and almost played it. If those three minutes weren't enough, tickets for Rihanna's "Last Girl on Earth" summer tour go on sale Friday April 9. And, as previously reported, America's favorite Barbadian will be joined by Ke$ha on all 25 dates. And who knows -- maybe Rihanna will show off even more of her instrumental talents during the tour.

    Eminem's New Album Almost Complete?

Now his producer, New Jersey-based Just Blaze, is getting in on the fun, revealing a few tidbits about Em's upcoming album. "It's getting there, but we still got a lot of work," Just Blaze told MTV. Eminem's highly-anticipated Relapse 2 was supposed to be released last year, but production on the record got pushed back. Now it appears that he's working hard to ready the album as soon as possible, and Just Blaze is confident that Slim Shady is going to outdo himself this time around. "The wordplay is crazy, the metaphors are crazy," he said. "He's really back on his game.

    Lil Wayne Starts Prison Blog

Eight more months in prison aren't enough to keep Lil Wayne away from his fans. The rapper, who is currently serving a weapons possession sentence at Rikers Island in New York, launched a brand new website today to keep in touch with his friends and supporters until he gets out in November. "I want all of you to know that I appreciate all the mail I get, and this is my way of saying thank you," Lil Wayne said in his first entry on weezythanxyou.com. "If I could, I'd write each one of you back." Although Weezy isn't allowed internet access while in jail, his handwritten letters will be transcribed weekly by members of his team -- and he promises to respond to as much fan mail as he can. In his first post, Lil Wayne gave sincere shout-outs to three to three fans who had written to him, making sure to mention each by name.
