  • Damon Albarn's First Solo Album Coming in 2014

Damon Albarn's First Solo Album Coming in 2014

And a headline is all we know. Damon Albarn, best known for his work with Blur and Gorillaz, announced Wednesday (December 11) that his first-ever solo album will arrive sometime in 2014. The news came in the form of a 21 second YouTube video, with scant other detail. Watch above. Albarn described the upcoming full-length as "quite intimate" to the Wall Street Journal earlier this year, adding that work on Blur's long-speculated-about eighth album will begin after the solo LP sees release. In a May interview with Rolling Stone, the 45-year-old said the album is "sort of folk soul" and will feature "rhythmic" work from XL Recordings owner Richard Russell, who previously teamed with Albarn on Bobby Womack's 2012 record, The Bravest Man in the Universe."Making a solo record can be such a disaster," Albarn said.

Watch Charlotte OC's Bewitching 'Colour My Heart' Live Video

The influences coloring Charlotte OC's soulful, dance-floor-ready pop are these: Berghain, Berlin's mythologized nightclub, and the unusual Bon Iver mix she encountered there. "What I was hearing was heaven, what I was seeing was a version of hell," she recalls. Those hellish impulses led her to co-writer Tim Anderson's Tim Burton-esque studio in L.A., where, surrounded by the macabre, she penned her debut EP Colour My Heart, a Stygian swooner that layers Lana Del Rey-like brooding over Lorde-ly beats. Above, watch Charlotte — of Malawian, Indian, and Irish heritage — gorgeously perform its pulsating title track as she channels the bewitching allure of Stevie Nicks and the big-throated finesse of Alicia Keys.

Chris Brown Arrested for Felony Assault in Washington, D.C.

Chris Brown was reportedly arrested and charged with felony assault early Sunday morning (October 27) in Washington D.C. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Brown was in a fight with another adult male who sustained injuries. ABC News alleges that Brown, 24, punched the man in the face outside of the W Hotel in downtown D.C.The embattled R&B singer, one of SPIN's 2012 Hall of Shame inductees, performed at local nightclub The Park with August Alsina earlier in the evening. He is, of course, no stranger to controversy, specifically when it involves assault. In January, Brown and his entourage were involved in a parking lot brawl with Frank Ocean, in which homophobic slurs were reportedly leveled at the channel ORANGE singer.

  • Did Arcade Fire's New Single 'Reflektor' Leak?

Did Arcade Fire's New Single 'Reflektor' Leak?

Was all that secrecy for nothing? Days before its scheduled world premiere, Arcade Fire's hotly anticipated new single, "Reflektor," appears to have leaked. The Montreal-based Grammy winners announced earlier this week that their new album's titular first single would debut alongside a brand-new video on Monday, September 9. But midday Saturday (September 7), Tumblr site Omnimusic posted what very convincingly sounded like the song itself. As often happens with leaks, the embed intermittenly disappears and reappears. From what we heard on one listen, the James Murphy-produced track percolates with a retro disco sound, similar to what Daft Punk achieved with Random Access Memories. And is that that most certainly is professed Arcade Fire fan David Bowie providing brief background voals at the end.Hear the song below.

Watch the Replacements Rehearse 'Favorite Thing' in Latest Itty-Bitty Video

We can name that tune in... three notes. In the 19-second video above, posted to Facebook Wednesday (July 3), the two members who constitute the newly reunited Replacements (Paul Westerberg and Tommy Stinson) rehearse 1984 Let It Be cut "Favorite Thing." A previous practice clip showed the band riffing through 1987's "Alex Chilton," and like that even-shorter glimpse, the new preview intentionally crops the shot to exclude the drummer and guitarist.

Jay-Z's 'Magna Carta Holy Grail' Leaks Outside the Samsung Galaxy

Never mind the means, but five SPIN contributors managed to get ahold of a copy and shared their completely impulsive reviews.Hov's 12th studio album won't be available for purchase by non-Samsung users until July 8.Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail track list:1. • the replacements reunite at riot fest

The Replacements to Reunite Onstage After 22-Year Absence

Even during their '80s heyday, the Replacements were an unpredictable live entity. And though footage exists of the group at their explosive peak, that was 30 years ago. Still, the Paul Westerberg-led indie-punk icons are "reuniting" as the headliner for Riot Fest 2013. The three-city engagement marks the 'Mats' first billed performance in 22 years; they last performed in Chicago's Grant Park on July 4, 1991.In a statement, founding bassist Tommy Stinson contended that the band never broke up despite the hiatus. No word yet on who will replace guitarist Slim Dunlap (replacement for original guitarist Bob Stinson), who suffered a debilitating stroke in 2012. In June of that year, Stinson let slip that he and singer Paul Westerberg were working together on a tribute album — what later became the auction-based Songs for Slim EP and split 7-inch series.
