April 27, 2009 – Eminem's new single, "3 A.M.," leaked online late last week, and it appears the hip-hop hero's twisted alter-ego, Slim Shady, is back -- and he brought plenty of guns and prescription pills with him. The song, anchored by Dr. Dre's hypnotic beat, sees Em stepping into the shoes of a serial killer type, dropping rhymes about murdering customers at McDonald's and dismembering family members, while blacked out from taking too many Klonopins. He even mulls the merits of Kim Kardashian's posterior and quotes from Silence of the Lambs. Last week, Em told listeners on his Sirius XM radio station, Shade45, that he has already filmed a video for the single in Detroit. April 27, 2009 – Rihanna is currently in the studio recording her next album -- and according to her producers, Norwegian duo Tor Erik Hermansen and Mikkel S. Eriksen, the troubled pop starlet is ready to prove her musical mettle. "I think coming off of several million albums we have a lot to prove, regardless of what's going on in her personal life," Hermansen told MTV. Hermansen and Eriksen -- known professionally as Stargate -- had previously collaborated with Rihanna on "Take A Bow" and "Unfaithful." "She has a character about herself now in her voice and it's great to see. [It's] very inspiring for us," Hermansen said of the trio's latest time in the studio. "[We] leave her personal life to her." Rihanna is also said to be in the midst of organizing a sort of "Independent Women" tour, with fellow R&B songstresses Ciara and Keyshia Cole reportedly on the list of recruits.

Last week, Noel said the Britpop icons would be taking a five-year break, citing his brother Liam's "rude, arrogant, intimidating, and lazy" behavior as his motivation. But now Liam is claiming that while the band may be taking a breather, they're certainly not breaking up -- and he thinks he can prove it. In fact, Liam said the brotherly friction is proof that the band will continue. "He's different and I'm different. April 22, 2009 – Expect less "ready for the floor" and more "heading for the door" on Hot Chip's new album. The Brit electro band's follow-up to 2008's dance-tastic album Made in the Dark will feature mellow "end of the night tunes." "We're kind of stepping things down a bit because we want to make this next album quite simple, gentle, focused; just 10 or 11 tracks of really excellent pop songs that hopefully will become timeless classics," synth player Joe Goddard told BBC 6 Music. "They'll be club tunes but not the really banging ones. Making songs like that always gives you the scope to do a reallybanging remix, which we'll probably try and do aswell." Taking cues from '80s R&B duo Womack and Womack's "Teardrops" and '90s pop a' la Crystal Waters' "Gypsy Woman," the quintet's fourth album is aimed at an early 2010 release.

April 21, 2009 – Noel Gallagher appreciates your business, but he'd like you to know that the current wait time for a new Oasis album is approximately five years. "By the time we make another record we'll be five years older," he told Q Magazine. Why the wait? Well, the Britpop frontman seems keener than ever to follow through on his solo album plans. Plus, he's lacking motivation to write new Oasis material. "Even before the end of making each Oasis album, I've always started writing the next one, and I haven't this time," he said. "I don't ?want to force it." Which is not to say that he's lacking tunes. "I've got a lot of songs lying around and some of them are really great," he said. "But they're not Oasis songs.

April 21, 2009 – It's official: Depeche Mode, Jane's Addition, Tool, the Killers, Beastie Boys, and Kings of Leon will headline 2009's Lollapalooza festival, scheduled to hit Chicago's Grant Park August 7-9. The three-day fest will also feature Snoop Dogg, Thievery Corporation, Lou Reed, TV On the Radio, Vampire Weekend, Santigold, the Decemberists, Animal Collective, Arctic Monkeys, Band of Horses, Of Montreal, Bat for Lashes, Andrew Bird, Silversun Pickups, Deerhunter, Passion Pit, Fleet Foxes, Neko Case, and Ida Maria. The hip-hop contingency will be augmented by Asher Roth, Kid Cudi, and Rye Rye. In addition, there will also be a nightclub-styled stage called "Perry's" -- named for the festival's founder, Jane's Addiction frontman Perry Farrell -- featuring dance and electronic music from MSTRKRFT and Simian Mobile Disco, plus DJ sets from A-Trak and Animal Collective, among others.

April 21, 2009 – Lee Mavers, of 1980s Brit rock outfit the La's -- known for their sunny hit "There She Goes" -- is eyeing a partnership with Pete Doherty's band Babyshambles. And move over P.Diddy and the Arctic Monkeys -- this sounds like a bromance to be reckoned with. It was love at first onstage collaboration, when Mavers joined Doherty and Babyshambles drummer Andy Ficek to perform at a recent stop of Doherty's solo tour in England. "He [Mavers] said how much he loved what we do, how we play, how we look," Ficek told NME.com. Though it sounds like Mavers was interviewing for the position of Babyshambles fan club prez, he was actually angling for a collaboration, and made his intentions plain to Doherty. "Peter said Lee wants us to be his backing band," Ficek said. "[Mavers has] loads of songs written and he'd like us to get involved.

April 19, 2009 – Following in the steps of Ozzy Osbourne, Jessica Simpson, and, most recently, Justin Timberlake, DJ AM (a.k.a. Adam Goldstein) is poised to be the latest music industry personality with an MTV reality show. Goldstein is no stranger to the reality TV circuit -- he's appeared on both Punk'd and The Simple Life. But this time around the circumstances are a bit more serious. Tentatively titled Gone Too Far, the new series is being billed as an intervention-style reality show that will see the celebrity DJ help to orchestrate "tough-love interventions" for young people whose lives have become unmanageable due to chemical dependency [via Hollywood Reporter].
