Singer for Punk Legends X Diagnosed with MS

Exene Cervenka, co-vocalist for long-running Los Angeles punk band X alongside bassist/singer John Doe, has been diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, a disease that affects the body's central nervous system and can result in physical disability. Cervenka, 53, born Christine Cervenka, revealed her health troubles in a statement released this morning: "After some months of not feeling 100 percent healthy, I recently had some medical tests run and the prognosis is that I am suffering from multiple sclerosis. Apparently, it has been affecting me for quite some time. Although this is obviously unfortunate news, I am choosing to see the positive in it. I, and X as a band, have supported the Sweet Relief charity since the mid-1990's; the irony of this is not lost on any of us.

New Pearl Jam Album Out This Fall

Pearl Jam will release their new album, tentatively titled Backspacer, early this fall. Hey, it only took three years and cost bassist Jeff Ament $3,000 in cash, his passport, and a few head lacerations -- it must be awesome! Backspacer will be released through retail chain Target. Unlike Prince's exclusive deal with the retailer earlier this year, Pearl Jam will also sell the album through a variety of other distribution partners, including independent record stores. "We'll have a lot of partners," PJ's manager Kelly Curtis told Billboard.com."Target ended up allowing us to have other partners. We'll be able to take care of all levels of the Pearl Jam fan...

Sacha Baron Cohen Sits on Eminem's Face!

What better way to welcome Eminem back to the media spotlight than by sitting on his face on live television... in ass-less chaps. Which is exactly what Borat funnyman Sacha Baron Cohen did last night at the MTV Movie Awards ceremony at the Gibson Amphitheatre in Los Angeles. The fracas began when Cohen, in the guise of homosexual Austrian fashion reporter Bruno, flew on a wire above the audience while wearing angel's wings and a Roman-era leather skirt. Cohen then experienced a few "technical difficulties" with his stunt, and was flipped upside down, revealing his butt. The controversial funnyman was then lowered right into the lap of Marshall Mathers himself -- his exposed ass directly connecting with the hip-hop phenom's face! "Get this mother----er off me, man!," Em shouted as his bodyguards frantically rushed to remove Cohen.

Watch: Bat for Lashes' Strange Stage Show

In this new clip for "Pearl's Dream," from Bat for Lashes' stunning album, Two Suns, Natasha Khan -- the electro-pop songstress behind the BFL name -- doffs a fur-shouldered coat to perform on a smoke-filled stage in front of an empty auditorium. Well, save for a creepy blonde-wigged doppelganger.Khan flings herself around the stage and at one point takes flight to exhibit some truly electrifying special powers, while a scary-looking wolf looks on -- oh my! Khan's no stranger to strange (and, usually, quite awesome) videos -- see earlier clips for "Daniel" and "What's a Girl to Do?" Sneak Peek: Rihanna and Kanye Get "Paranoid"

She may have cancelled her return to the stage, but in Kanye West's new video, pop icon Rihanna is back in the limelight -- at least in a preliminary cut of the video that leaked online earlier today, but has since been removed at Kanye's request. The clip for 808s and Heartbreak single "Paranoid" features the embattled pop star front and center, as she goes from lounging in lingerie, to hitting the road for a midnight drive and then back to bed. There isn't much of a narrative beyond Rihanna posing in a variety of sexy ways -- then again, in the words of one SPIN staffer after seeing the video: "Less is more." Kanye had the leaked clip yanked from YouTube because it was an unfinished cut. He explains on his blog: "It hurts me to see the old and very wrong version of the 'Paranoid' video get leaked all over the net while I was on an 11 hr flight and couldn't do anything about it.

Eminem's 'Relapse': Best Seller of the Year

Go ahead, crack a bottle -- Eminem's on top of the charts! The rap megastar's first record in five years, Relapse, moved 608,000 copies last week, claiming the No. 1 spot on the Billboard 200 and racking up the biggest weekly sales total of the year for any album. It's the best seller since AC/DC's "Black Ice," which moved 784,000 copies last October. Em has quite a bit to be proud of, as Relapse also marks Em's fifth straight No. 1 record. Overall, he has sold 34million albums in the U.S., making him the biggest selling hip-hop act inthe SoundScan era (1991-present). Let's just hope the newly-sober star doesn't go all "3 A.M." on us while he's celebrating.
