Watch Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings Generously Lord Over 'Kimmel'

Sharon Jones and the Dap-Kings visited Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Monday night to give the people what they want: a stunning, soulful performance on behalf their recently released fifth album, Give the People What They Want. The resilient Ms. Jones, who just beat cancer, led her band through a tender rendition of throwback beaut "Making Up and Breaking Up (And Making Up and Breaking Up Over Again)," followed by a restlessly buoyant version of funky rave-up "People Don't Get What They Deserve," which (rightly) earned rapturous applause from the studio audience."Soul singers are here," Jones told SPIN recently. "Soul music is here. All I want is for soul music to be played on every station, not just a handful of stations." She'll get no resistance from us. Watch Jones fight the good fight with "Making Up and Breaking Up" above and "People Don't Get What They Deserve" below.

See the Hold Steady Let 'Spinners' Loose on 'Letterman'

The Hold Steady return today (March 25) with their sixth album, Teeth Dreams, an effort that finds frontman Craig Finn focused more on the pits of middle-age and less on the highs of killer parties. As SPIN's Jason Gubbels wrote in his review, "These aren't bad vibes you shake off with a make-out session inside the chillout tent: Finn's considering the despair that comes from dead-end jobs and decades of hard living, recreational depressants very much included."Still, the follow-up to 2010's underwhelming Heaven Is Whenever isn't without its bright spots. Enter "Spinners," the new LP's pick-me-up single, which the Hold Steady performed on the Late Show With David Letterman on Monday night.

Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks Drops Delirious 'Strange Colores' Video

Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks may be a bit of a misnomer for Dave Portner's latest project, seeing that the band's "Little Fang" single owes a sizable debt to disco's flirty shimmy. But "Strange Colores," the newest music video from the supergroup (which features ex-Dirty Projectors member Angel Deradoorian and former Ponytail drummer Jeremy Hyman), arrives as advertised. Directed and edited by Olivia Wyatt, "Strange Colores" delivers a rush of, well, strange colors. A bizarre lightshow blinks furiously throughout the kaleidoscopic clip, offering a fitting visual companion to the track's blaring, hyperactive groove. Watch the short above, check out the previously shared video for "Little Fang," and find tour dates below."Strange Colores" serves as the penultimate track to Enter the Slasher House, the upcoming debut album by Avey Tare's Slasher Flicks.

Here and Nowhere Else doesn't officially drop until April 1 (via Carpark/Mom + Pop), but the Cleveland noise-rock trio are streaming the fast-approaching full-length on NPR right now. Anticipation for the follow-up to 2012's Essential Attack on Memory has been building steadily for the past year. Remember, the Dylan Baldi-led outfit performed the recently shared "Psychic Trauma" during South By Southwest 2013, and several months later, Baldi played an acoustic version of the thrasher while in Vienna. Then came the teaser video for the LP and, soon afterwards, Cloud Nothings' January show at Baby's All Right in Brooklyn, in which they tore through Here and Nowhere Else in full.

Hear 3D's Thumping Remix of Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band's 'Mad Lifeline'

When Tunde Adebimpe isn't leading TV on the Radio, he's singing for Higgins Waterproof Black Magic Band and, in turn, inspiring remixes by Massive Attack's Robert "3D" Del Naja. To wit, 3D has reworked two HWBMB tracks for a special edition vinyl that's limited to 500 copies and out now on Battle Box. "I constantly stalk Tunde with instrumentals," 3D tells SPIN. "In revenge he sent me the Higgins album and I picked two tracks that I thought would be fun to remix. Now that's sorted, I'll get back to harassing him with loops."One of the aforementioned tracks is "Mad Lifeline," a nearly eight-minute highlight from HWBMB's self-titled, debut EP, released last year through the band's own ZNA Records. In 3D's hands, the run time shrinks to five minutes and the focus shifts from prowling bass to percolating percussion, clearing the path for Adebimpe's always-soulful vocals.
