Hear the Hold Steady's Most Beloved in Westeros 'Game of Thrones' Closer
CHVRCHES took it upon themselves to craft their steeped-in-synth cover of the Game of Thrones theme song, but David Benioff and Dan Weiss — the showrunners behind the HBO fantasy epic — actually requested a specific band to record a studio version of "The Bear & the Maiden Fair," a song featured on last night's episode (April 14)."['The Bear & the Maiden Fair'] is one of the most popular songs in Westeros, beloved by nobles and commoners alike, sung at taverns and feasts and etc," Benioff and Weiss told Entertainment Weekly recently.

Watch Anika's Dreamy, Foreboding 'I Go to Sleep' Video
In SPIN's recent cover story on the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, frontwoman Karen O and guitarist Nick Zinner agreed that two albums provided the ever-adaptable trio with the most inspiration while they crafted their latest LP, Mosquito: Kanye West's insta-classic My Beautiful Dark Twisted Fantasy and Anika, the self-titled 2010 debut album from the Berlin/Bristol-based singer. Zinner described both touchstones as records that "jumped out as being totally fucking outsider, left-of-the-box music. They didn't sound like anything else that I'd heard."Anika will issue another collection of noir-flavored oddities on April 16 when Stones Throw Records releases the Anika EP, produced by Portishead's Geoff Barrow. In advance of the short-player's debut, SPIN is premiering the video for "I Go to Sleep," a séance-ready reverie that's been translated to film by German director Uli M.

Shuggie Otis Pulls the Plug on His 'Fallon' Performance
Shuggie Otis spent the better part of the last few decades relegated to pop music's margins. Sure, the singer-guitarist's third album, 1974's Inspiration Information, has been sampled by Beyoncé and OutKast, but, as SPIN's David Marchese recently noted, the "dreamy, virtuosic collection of lilting funk, guileless pop, and drifting soundscapes" was long cherished by only a select group of devotees.Otis enjoyed some national exposure last night (April 12), though, as he dropped by Late Night With Jimmy Fallon for a funky twofer. During the television broadcast, the cult legend performed the title track off Inspiration Information, which will be reissued on April 16 as Inspiration Information / Wings of Love, a two-disc package collecting previously unreleased live and studio tracks recorded between 1975 and 2000.

Gucci Mane's Bond Set at $75K After Champagne Bottle Assault
Gucci Mane is currently being held on a $75,000 bond after allegedly hitting a fan in the head with a champagne bottle at an Atlanta nightclub last month, the Associated Press reports. A judge initially denied Mane bail citing his long history of legal troubles (see: run-ins involving murder, cocaine, reckless driving, and more), in addition to this latest aggravated assault charge.Drew Findling, the attorney representing Gucci Mane (born Radric Davis), said that the Alabama-born rapper plans to post bond in Georgia's Fulton County. Following that, Davis will be transferred to DeKalb County, where he reportedly has a hold placed on him because of his probation stemming from an unrelated misdemeanor charge. The nightclub incident reportedly occurred on March 16, when the victim, a soldier named James Lettley, tried to take a picture with the MC.

Watch Carmen Villain's Grimly Chilling 'Easy' Video
Perhaps as a nod to her professional-model-turned-singer-songwriter origin story, Carmen Villain — a.k.a. Carmen Maria Hillestad, former cover girl for Vogue, Glamour, Nylon, Elle, and more — spends the majority of her new music video directly in front of the camera. "Easy" is a shaggy, seething slab of shoegaze off Villain's recently released debut album, Sleeper, but the track's companion clip clings to a narrow focus: monochromatic close-ups of the Best New Artist alumna that cut away to headshots of several other young, attractive people glaring into the lens, looking a little depressed. The view pans across several outdoor locations (a bit of bleak countryside, a dimly lit street late at night) but the camera can't keep away from Villain. Consider this her formal reintroduction, just ahead of her first-ever New York City gig, happening at Pianos on April 23.
