Lou Reed, Metallica Reveal Album Details

Lou Reed and Metallica's forthcoming collaborative album now has a release date and title, after the two unlikely partners announced the set in June — and it looks to be one of the more ambitious albums of the year. The joint effort will be titled Lulu and will drop on November 1, the pair announced on their website. "Loutallica," as they are dubbing themselves, revealed the record was inspired by German writer Frank Wedekind's turn of the century plays Earth Spirit and Pandora's Box.

Belgium's Pukkelpop Fest Canceled After 5 Die

UPDATE: Pukkelpop music festival in Hasselt, Belgium, has been canceled after at least five people died and 75 were injured when a storm blew through the festival grounds and caused a stage to collapse, Billboard reports. Early Friday morning, organizers decided to cancel the event out of respect for the victims and their families. Additional buses and trains were ordered to help evacuate the 40,000 concertgoers, many who were camping. Cullen Omori of the Smith Westerns Tweeted about the stage collapse, which happened as the band members, who were unharmed, were starting their set. (The post, which has since been deleted, said, "Stage collapsed max almost got crushed by the trees. I hope pukkelpop has insurance bc all our shit is broke," according to Pitchfork). The band followed up that post with another that read, "Praying no one got hurt.

Radiohead Post 'From the Basement' Concert

Radiohead premiered their hour-long episode of From the Basement - featuring the band performing selections fromThe King of Limbs, along with two new tracks - on British television in July. But it has not been available online (it was quickly yanked when it hit the web on July 10) until now. Watch the gorgeously-shot episode for a limited time on their YouTube page - or below. The set offers one of the most intimate looks at the band ever: It's a blast to watch them discuss the setlist and take breaks in between filming. The music ain't bad either. Highlights include Yorke debuting the mournful ballad "The Daily Mail" - as gorgeous and haunting as classics like "You and Whose Army" - and the groove-oriented Limbs stunner "Separator," which sends the singer into some of his trademark, goofy-looking convulsions. Big-ups to Radiohead for finally sharing!

    PREMIERE: David Guetta's Party-Rocking EP

With his 2009 album One Love, French house music DJ David Guetta emerged as one of the biggest party-starters on the planet and has since shaped the sound of much of the pop music you've heard blasting from FM radio. He produced hit singles for Rihanna and Black Eyed Peas, revived Kelis' career by turning her from an R&B singer into a club diva, and collaborated with Kelly Rowland on the inexhaustible "When Love Takes Over" to create a modern-day disco classic. But tacked onto Guetta's August 29 album Nothing but the Beat -- a 12-track hit parade of monster anthems featuring will.i.am. Nicki Minaj, Lil Wayne, Timbaland, and others --is a bonus disc of club tracks dubbed the Electro album. It finds Guetta returning to his roots, which veer more towards the edgy French house of Daft Punk and Bob Sinclar than fans of his mainstream pop work might expect.

Jay-Z and Kanye West: No. 1 on Charts

Jay-Z and Kanye West have snagged the No. 1 spot this week for their collaborative album Watch the Throne, selling 436,000 copies, according to Billboard. It's the second-largest first-week sales for an album this year: Lady Gaga holds the top spot with 1.1 million for Born This Way. Jay-Z and West — along with their parent label Def Jam — had an unconventional marketing strategy for Watch the Throne's release. The album was available exclusively to iTunes on August 8, and released to regular music retailers on August 12. While iTunes does not disclose specific sales figures for downloads, industry insiders have estimated it moved 290,000 digital copies — breaking a previous record held by Coldplay for their 2008 album Viva La Vida or Death and All His Friends. Sales for Watch the Throne were also boosted in part because the record did not leak online early.

RHCP Rock Venice Beach in "Rain Dance Maggie" Clip

The Red Hot Chili Peppers return on August 30 with I'm With You, their first album in five years, and now the boys' video for lead single "The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie" has premiered. Check it out here. Director Marc Klasfeld — who's worked with Foo Fighters, Against Me!, Kelis and more — helms a clip that perfectly matches the song's simple pop-funk vibe: he captures the boys rocking out on a rooftop near the shores of Venice Beach, CA — on July 30 at 6:33 PM to be exact. While the crowd looks psyched to watch their heroes in an unconventional setting, RCHP look pretty pumped, too: Kiedis and Flea bop around the stage with the energy of 20-year-olds. Obviously, they're shirtless. Kiedis revealed to MTV that "Rain Dance Maggie" almost didn't come together as a single. "[The first version] was kind of mostly instrumental, about an hour song," he says.

EXCLUSIVE: Primus Return With First New Song

It's been 11 years since Les Claypool released a studio album with his band of merry pranksters, Primus. That hiatus ends on September 13 when they drop their seventh album, Green Naugahyde. SPIN has the exclusive premiere of the album's first track "Tragedy's A-Comin'": LISTEN: Primus, "Tragedy's A'Comin" The tune is an art-funk monster - and might be the hottest thing they've done since their 1995 breakthrough smash "Wynona's Big Brown Beaver." Claypool and longtime guitarist Larry LaLonde, who have reunited with drummer Jay Lane after his split in 1989, lay down a searing groove anchored by Claypool's slap-funk bass lines.

Mastodon Debut First Single From Next Album

Mastodon release their fifth album, The Hunter, on September 27. After dropping "Black Tongue," the Atlanta metal kings have unveiled the record's first official single, "Curl of the Burl." Hear it here. Mastodon are pros at offering a virtuosic, prog-style spin to their thrash sound, but "Curl of the Burl" is surprisingly straight-forward: It's a sludgy, hard-rock anthem with discernable verses and choruses. That direct approach would make sense. Studio pro Mike Elizondo - who's produced pop smashes by Timbaland, Dr. Dre, Fiona Apple and more - produced the set. Still, Mastodon fans will find plenty to like with "Curl," particularly that searing guitar solo at the 2:13 mark. Mastodon are offering a limited-edition deluxe edition of The Hunter.
