Shudder to Think Reunite, Announce Tour Dates

After years of side projects, solo acts and soundtracks, Shudder to Think have stopped the shenanigans and reformed to bring the rock -- the delightfully bent, seductive rock -- for their first official tour in a decade. Three of Shudder's key members -- lead wailer Craig Wedren, guitarist/goatee-trimmer extraordinaire Nathan Larson, and drummer Kevin March -- will bring out the hits for rabid audiences from New York to California, with dates spread out between August and November. Mark Watrous joins the touring lineup on guitar, and Jesse Krakow will play bass, as original member Stuart Hill is no longer in the fold.

New Bloc Party Video Emerges Online, Album Details Still Unclear

Bloc Party's new video has surfaced online -- and it's a creepy, dudes-in-animal-heads clip accompanying presumed new single, "Mercury." Problem is, details about the band's forthcoming release are scarce at best. Here's the video, and scroll down past it to read what we do know about the new Bloc Party material. Now, here's what's been going on in Blo Party land over the past week. The group's faithful were in a tizzy after a tantalizingly amorphous countdown on the band's site culminated in a teaser that prompted fans to check out Zane Lowe's BBC radio show today, July 7, at 2:30 P.M. EST (7:30 P.M. in London).

Exclusive: Rock Plaza Central 'Steel Horse' Video Premiere

Toronto's literary-minded, alt-folk-country collective Rock Plaza Central have worked hard to become buzzworthy. They emerged from self-released purgatory two years ago to a rapid buzz-swell and eventual signing with Yep Roc Records in 2007, who reissued Are We Not Horses to further acclaim. And after a viral-video smash with their cover of Justin Timberlake's "SexyBack" and recent tour dates with the Mountain Goats, they decided to cement the seriousness of their mission with a glossy, conceptual clip for their beloved single, "I am an Excellent Steel Horse." The clip was directed by Mike Juneau and produced by Jesse Ewles and can be viewed, for the first time anywhere, here: I'd seen a video Mike [Juneau] did when he was in school called The Last Man or something," frontman Chris Eaton tells Spin.com.

Police, KT Tunstall, Mayer Play London's Hard Rock Calling

This past Saturday and Sunday (June 28-29), for the Hard Rock Calling festival at London's Hyde Park, Sting, Stewart Copeland, and Andy Summers made their final bow in front of their home country; Eric Clapton proved fans can still put their blind faith in his guitar virtuoso status; and relative rabble rousers like KT Tunstall and Jason Mraz wound their way in between the icons for some ear-catching sets underneath the abundant sunshine. We've got pics of the affair, capturing the Police and all the other participants in some rather arresting moments of performance. Exclusive: New Verve Cover Art Revealed

It seems 2008 is destined to be the year the Brits take back rock radio. Following the critical and commercial smash of SPIN July cover boys Coldplay's Viva La Vida, Richard Ashcroft, Simon Jones, Nick McCabe, and Peter Salisbury are just about ready to regale us with Forth, the appropriately -- if ironically spelled -- titled album arriving Aug. 19 via the band's (also matter-of-factly christened) imprint, On Your Own. And while the hungry throngs have heard their recently premiered, transcendent new single, "Love Is Noise", not a soul has seen the equally luminous cover art. Here it is: Click to enlarge The above image, shot by Uwe Duettmann and designed for cover-readiness by Studio Fury, will grace the reunited quartet's first effort together in over a decade.

VH1 Rock Honors Adds Tenacious D to Who Tribute Show

VH1 was clearly insistent on recruiting some genuinely badass talent to pay tribute to the Who at VH1 Rock Honors, which is taping this Saturday, July 12 at L.A.'s Pauley Pavilion and airing on the network July 17 at 9 P.M. But apparently they're more Tenacious than we thought, as the D -- aka Jack Black and Kyle Gass -- will make the stage explode like a Kung Fu Panda opening weekend at the box office. Incubus has also been added to the roster of homage-paying acts, which already includes Pearl Jam, Foo Fighters and the Flaming Lips. D's inclusion is fitting, since the likes of comedic actor Rainn Wilson will also be presenting or otherwise participating. Funny business aside, the Who's influence (as evidenced by the lineup) over a remarkably diverse array of musicians warranted Rock Honors' first-ever installment dedicated to just one act.

    Jay-Z vs. Oasis at Glastonbury

As has been well documented in YouTube land, Jay-Z reacted to Oasis guitarist Noel Gallagher'sdispleasure over the rapper's Glastonbury appearance by skewering their humorlessness and emerging with an electric guitar to perform "Wonderwall" as his opener. And while Jigga isn't the only artist to use the stage as his pulpit to address an antagonist, this is certainly one of the few-cross genre feuds we've seen in a while. Henceforth, the chatter on message boards world-round was delightfully divisive. Here's what music fans, bloggers, and concertgoers from both sides of the fence had to say: "Listening to the radio on the way home yesterday, he was generally a hit with the critics.

Exclusive Takka Takka MP3 from 'Migration'

For their latest album, Migration (out July 29 via Ernest Jenning), NYC's Takka Takka recruited some pals for assistance in the studio, and drummer Bryan Devendorf from the National lends a percussive hand on "Everybody Say," a track from the record that's available for download below, exclusively on SPIN.com. Devendorf's minimalist cameo behind the sticks buoys a stuttered riff that reiterates itself throughout the song. Elsewhere, the band shrouds a meditative lead guitar lick in gentler background reverberations and cryptically cooed lyrics. Falling somewhere between Fugazi's dubbiest moments and the culturally duplicitous percussion of fellow New York upstarts like Vampire Weekend, Takka Takka appear headed in directions far from your standard indie-rakka. Paul Weller Shuns Fly-Over States

Paul Weller makes no bones about wasting his time traversing the dusky off-roads of America. He is not, and has never been, U2, as he admits in our July issue, which is on stands now and available online via our digital edition. "There's no point in me traveling to Armadillo, or wherever the fuck it is, and playing to just 300 people," he explains bluntly in the candid, six-page Q&A. "I may as well just throw money away." But shows in major American markets are a wise investment for the Weller camp: The Jam and Style Council frontman will cross the Atlantic for a handful of dates in support of 22 Dreams, out July 22 on Yep Roc.

New Common Market MP3 from 'Tobacco Road'

Lyric-spitter RA Scion and his producing partner-in-crime Sabzi (also of Blue Scholars repute) first fueled their way out of Seattle's rain-soaked streets with the Black Patch War EP earlier this year, but if the title track to Tobacco Road, out Sept.
