    Beatles Marathon Brings Ukulele Lovers to Brooklyn

    This past Sunday (December 6), over 1,200 ukulele enthusiasts gathered atBrooklyn Bowl in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, for the second annual "Beatles:Complete on Ukulele" concert. Organized by Roger Greenawalt, a New York-based producer who runs TheBeatles Complete on Ukelele podcast, the event aimed to unite passionateukelele aficionados from near and far to play the entire Beatles catalog ina single day. Greenawalt kicked off the concert at noon, playing not only to ukuleleaficionados, but to an array of Yoko Ono impersonators, as well. With over100 ukulele players in attendance, highlights of the day included the WolffBrothers (formerly the Naked Brothers), Spirit Family Reunion, and FrankSimms. Adam Green and the Morning Pages and Guster's Ryan Miller wooed thecrowd through their uke-fueled renditions of classic Beatles jams.

    SPIN Presents 'Wild Things' Screening!

    On Wednesday, October 14th, NYC's Paris Theatre will be presenting aSPIN-sponsored advanced screening of the book-turned-movie, Where theWild Things Are. Highly acclaimed director Spike Jonze, the visionarybehind some of pop culture's most controversial and highly regarded filmsand music videos, will not only be in attendance, but participate in anintimate Q&A session with screenwriter Dave Eggers after the screening. Noneonly than author, actor, and Daily Show correspondent John Hodgmanwill be moderating the Q&A, so be expect a very exciting night.     MGMT, Flaming Lips, Decemberists Headline Treasure Island Festival

    This year's Treasure Island Festival is sure to be a doozy. Taking place October 17-18 at on Treasure Island in San Francisco, the festival boasts headlining bands like the Decemberists, MGMT, and psychedelic bubble blowers the Flaming Lips, and the supporting line-up is just as sure to excite. Pittsburgh party starter Girl Talk will be rocking the stage, as well as indie rock superstars Grizzly Bear and Brazilian Girls. Coming all the way from across the pond, Mike Skinner, better known as the Streets, will keep the jams going with his blend of British humor and London grime. Also be sure to catch Yo La Tengo, Passion Pit, Dan Deacon, and all of the other artists that are performing to make this festival one to remember. Tickets are on sale now, with advance two-day tickets going for $115.00, and VIP 2-Packs that include parking and a free subscription to SPIN going for $249.

    Kings of Leon, Dave Matthews Band, Pearl Jam Headline Austin City Limits

    With a whopping 130 bands scheduled to perform, the eighth annual Austin City Limits Music Festival (Oct. 2-4) is sure to be one to remember. While the Beastie Boys were forced to cancel due Adam Yauch's battle with cancer, the festival still boasts Kings of Leon, Dave Matthews Band, and Pearl Jam as headliners, with New York City art-punks Yeah Yeah Yeahs added to the bill. If that wasn't enough, be sure to expect mind blowing performances by supporting acts such as Mos Def, Arctic Monkeys, and stoner grunge supergroup Them Crooked Vultures, featuring Dave Grohl, Josh Homme, and John Paul Jones of Led Zeppelin fame. The festival kicks off in Zilker Park on October 2nd, and finishes the night of October 4th with a surefire performance by Pearl Jam.

    VH1 DIVAS Afterparty Stole the Show at One Hanson Place

    Last Thursday, September 17, marked the return of VH1's DIVAS -- it was a night filled with stunning performances, and an even more stunning afterparty.After music's most exciting women rocked the stage, including Adele, Kelly Clarkson, and Leona Lewis, who sang to benefit Vh1 Save the Music,the real party started at swanky Brooklyn hangout One Hanson Place.
