My Chemical Romance Splits With Drummer

New Jersey emo-rockers My Chemical Romance and drummer Bob Bryar have parted ways, the band announced on their website. "We wanted this news to come from us and not some bullshit gossip site," guitarist Frank Iero wrote. "As of four weeks ago, My Chemical Romance and Bob Bryar parted ways. This was a painful decision for all of us to make and was not taken lightly." Last December, the band's fourth album appeared to be on target for a Spring release, but now the remaining members are heading back into the studio, making a Fall 2010 on-sale date more likely.

EXCLUSIVE SONG: Alt Rockers Cover Tom Petty

The Almost didn't stray too far, geographically speaking, for their contribution to the upcoming compilation Punk Goes Classic Rock. The Clearwater, Florida, quintet covered fellow Floridian Tom Petty's 1989 classic "Free Fallin.'" Hear an exclusive stream right here! LISTEN: The Almost, "Free Fallin" "We always came back to Tom Petty," guitarist Jay Vilardi tells SPIN.com. "He's an easy choice for us, the ultimate argument ender." The Almost's version of "Free Fallin'" employs a bit of polished production, but beyond that, doesn't stray far from the original. "To us, the song is flawless," says Vilardi. "Butchering the work of one of our collective idols would be a real 'heartbreaker.'" The band -- fronted by Underoath drummer Aaron Gillespie -- has covered the iconic Petty track during their shows, and their love affair for the Gainesville rocker extends back into childhood.

    WATCH: New 'Runaways' Performance Trailer

Kristen Stewart has the brooding look down pat, and Dakota Fanning has the feathered hairdo, but these Hollywood it-girls can sing, too. In the new trailer for The Runaways -- check it out below -- KStew, playing Joan Jett, and Fanning, portaying Cherie Currie, rock out onstage on the Runaways 1976 hit, "Cherry Bomb." The film, due in theaters March 19, depicts the L.A. girl group's rise to fame and eventual fall into drink and drugs. Stewart and Fanning's real vocals are used in the performance sequences. "Dakota watched my [1980] movie Foxes," Currie recently told SPIN's Phoebe Reilly. "She sounds just like me." For her part, Fanning relished being a rocker: "Man, when I walked on that stage I was a completely different person," she told SPIN.

Watch: Kanye West's Haunting New Video

Following all of Kanye West's blog rants and award-snatching, it's easy to forget that the tabloid fixture actually makes music. The new video for "Coldest Winter," off the 2008 album 808s & Heartbreak, delivers haunting imagery over an esoteric beat, and reminds us of some of the rapper's better qualities. The video, directed by Nabil Elderkin, who also handled West's clips for "Paranoid" and "Welcome to Heartbreak," features a remixed version of the track, adding tribal drums and scratchy synths to the more stripped down album version. The clip is all ominous imagery as a beautiful woman (complete with ripped-up bodice) runs through a dark forest, while grim-reaper-like figures beckon her. "Coldest Winter" is said to be about the death of West's mother, who passed away in 2007 after complications from cosmetic surgery.

Hip-hop stars Lil Wayne, RZA, the Game, Rick Ross, and Beanie Segal are also slated to appear on the as-yet-untitled LP. "I just love music, so with my album it's no one genre," Barker told Spinner. "It goes from everything from punk rock to hip-hop to some electro stuff on there to a metal song with Corey Taylor from Slipknot. It's been really fun and interesting up 'till now." It's not the first time the rocker has gained attention for genre-swapping collaborations: Barker took the stage with Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Drake at this year's Grammys, and, later that week, Barker found time to join R&B songstress Mary J.
