February 13, 2012 – Considering Lady Gaga arrived at last year's Grammy Awards in a freaking egg, this year's red carpet fashion was extremely subdued by comparison. Deadmau5, like many dudes, showed up in a T-shirt. But an interesting T-shirt. Once Grammy viewers got over the sight of a man with a giant, toothless, pupil-less mouse head stalking the red carpet wordlessly, they realized the electro guru, née Joel Zimmerman, was sporting a phone number with the words "U Mad Bro?" beneath it. Whose number? Naturally, the answer was available on Deadmau5's Twitter account. After congratulating his fellow dance bro — "Congrats to @skrillex for the best remix grammy :) can't say I'm not proud!" — the producer tweeted his confession: Skrillex was about to be getting a lot of phone calls. February 13, 2012 – The 54th Annual Grammy Awards are undoubtedly going to be remembered as an emotionally charged moment in our cultural history. Combine the bitter "F U"s of scorned exes (from Katy Perry) with the bitter "F U"s of the rest of the world (to Chris Brown), the raging exorcisms (of Nicki Minaj — er, we mean Roman) and, of course, the endlessly bittersweet farewells we had to say to some of the most influential voices and innovators in modern music, and you've got a veritable whirlwind of feelings. We felt them all with you, but in the meanwhile, we were keeping track of the mere handful of wins that were awarded throughout the three-and-a-half-hour ceremony. As predicted, the heart-meltingly adorable Adele totally obliterated the competition in almost every category.

Somewhere in the world — specifically, Los Angeles — for a very uncomfortable group of people, the Grammy Awards ceremony spans six hours. Literally. The pre-telecast awards ceremony began at 5 p.m. Eastern today, and recorded the 78 (78!) award presentations (now we sort of understand now why the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences cut the list by 32 last year). Luckily, we did the dirty work for you. Foo Fighters walked away with the most wins in the pre-telecast awards, nabbing four for Best Rock Album (Wasting Light), Best Rock Song ("Walk"), Best Hard Rock/Metal Performance ("White Limo"), and Best Long Form Music Video ("Foo Fighters: Back and Forth").

February 10, 2012 – La Blogothèque has (finally) shared the Soirée de Poche (Pocket Party, or Takeaway Show, depending on how you're translating) they filmed with Sharon Van Etten last fall in a Parisian apartment. Is there a better way to follow up your first look at Blue Ivy Carter? We think not. Accompanied by multi-instrumentalist Heather Woods Broderick on vocals, Van Etten plays "Give Out," "All I Can," "One Day," and "Love More" for a cross-legged audience, all seated in front of a roaring fire. It's incredibly intimate, quiet, sad, yet altogether gripping, just like the album she released this week, Tramp (her first full-length via Jagjaguwar).

February 10, 2012 – While you're stuffing your faces with chips (and the dyed-black deviled Skrilleggs you made for your Skrillex-themed Grammy party — no? just us? — and laughing-to-keep-from-crying at the tremendously ill-advised pairing of legendary Beach Boys with Foster the People and Maroon 5 Sunday night at the Grammys, we thought you ought to know what paid for your evening's entertainment. Every commercial spot that interrupts your yapping about the night's pop extravagance cost its company about $800,000, according to media-buying execs who talked to Billboard.biz. In 2010 — the year Taylor Swift's Fearless took home Album of the Year and the Kings of Leon got massively drunk — the cost of a commercial spot during the Grammys broadcast cost an all-time low of $426,000 because 2009 earned the show a dismal audience of just 19.2 million.

February 10, 2012 – In an interview with Ryan Seacrest this morning, Madonna admitted that she was so not happy with M.I.A. over that whole bird-flipping debacle at the Super Bowl. In her words, she thought the gesture was a "very teenager, irrelevant thing to do," per Spinner. And she didn't even know about the guest appearance from M.I.A.'s middle finger until she was in the elevator leaving the game. The world presumed the original bad girl wasn't so thrilled with M.I.A.'s cute little PR stunt, especially given that the rest of Madge's performance was basically G-rated (and awesome). “I was really surprised. I didn’t know anything about it," Madonna said. "I wasn’t happy about it. I understand it’s kind of punk rock and everything, but to me there was such a feeling of love and good energy, and positivity, it seemed negative. ...

February 7, 2012 – Today, St. Vincent dropped the video for "Cheerleader," off last year's Strange Mercy (which we recently named No. 34 on our best albums of 2011 list). The song's lyrics fit in remarkably well with the theme of the video, but we're starting to wonder: Annie (Clark, a.k.a. St. Vincent), are you OK? Are you OK, Annie? (Hat tip to Vulture, but we were thinking it, too!) True to recent form (see: the equally gruesome video for "Cruel"), Clark's latest short film brings the eyelinered, benzadrine-dream gaze and horrifically unlikely cause of death. This time, however, she's not exactly human. As we gaze into her cold, dead eyes, it becomes apparent that the porcelain-skinned Clark is ... actually made of porcelain, on display as a giant museum exhibit hoisted by some seriously allegorical rope for slack-jawed gallery types to ogle.

Let us introduce you to the latest comments from Ja Rule, who was sentenced to two years in prison for gun possession and tax evasion last year (following a 2007 arrest). In an interview with the New York Daily News (via Hip-Hop DX), a very cheerful Ja (known to his mama as Jeffrey Atkins) called prison "amazing" and tells the reporter all about his time in the joint. February 1, 2012 – In October, two months following Amy Winehouse's death, the coroner presiding over the singer's inquest and autopsy told the world that the substance-plagued singer had died of "misadventure," which was brought on by overconsumption of alcohol. Now, however, it has just come to light that that coroner — assistant deputy coroner Suzanne Greenaway — resigned her post a mere month after making that call, way back in November, following an investigation into her qualifications as a coroner. Does that mean Winehouse case will have to be reopened and examined anew? Officials aren't saying yet. According to a report by the Associated Press, Greenaway had previously worked as a solicitor and barrister in Australia, but authorities uncovered she had not served as a registered lawyer in the U.K.
