• Deafheaven From the Kettle Onto the Coil Stream Adult Swim Singles

Submit to Deafheaven's Obliterating Single, 'From the Kettle Onto the Coil'

Black-metal alchemists Deafheaven are the newest addition to this year's Adult Swim Summer Singles Program, which last week saw a release from Flying Lotus' cartoon alter ego Captain Murphy and Oozing Wound before that. The heavy-hitting "From the Kettle Onto the Coil" is a devastating six-and-a-half-minute assault that dips into vibier moments but never loses its edge in its relentless attack, a welcome follow-up to the gloriously shredded Sunbather. The track is available for stream now below and will be ready for free download here on August 25. With just four weeks left in the annual Adult Swim summer series, the remaining releases will come from RP Boo, Mastodon (ft. Butthole Surfers' Gibby Haynes), Run the Jewels, and Ka.

  • Coldplay True Love Video Body Suit

Chris Martin Dons Inflatable Bodysuit, Dances, Finds Love in Coldplay's 'True Love' Video

"Anything is possible" — that's the moral of Coldplay's new video for their Ghost Stories single "True Love." And rather than leaving it up to interpretation (what if we didn't get it?!), the band and director Jonas Åkerlund heavy-handedly run the sentence at the clip's end, almost like a "The More You Know" public service announcement, avoiding any confusion. So if you take anything away from the above clip, let it be that. The video was shot around Los Angeles with an emphasis on the bright colors of Venice Beach and depicts two ballet-loving misfits in inflatable bodysuits trying to find their ways.

Arcade Fire's Agent Has Strong Words for NFL's Pay-to-Play Super Bowl Plan

Representatives for some of music's biggest bands are scratching their heads over the NFL's reported pay-to-play plan that would seemingly sell its Super Bowl Halftime performance slot to the highest bidder. But this will only work if pop stars participate, Rolling Stone points out, speaking with some of the business' biggest agents."Halftime's for sale," Dennis Arfa, agent for Metallica, Billy Joel, and Rush, told the publication. "If I was a young band, and I had a billionaire backer, I'd buy my way to the Super Bowl — everybody would know me after the Super Bowl. Is Paul McCartney going to pay? I doubt it.""Obviously it is a marketing boon to play halftime for the Super Bowl," David T. Viecelli, agent for Arcade Fire, Mumford & Sons, and St. Vincent said.

  • Liam Gallagher ALS Ice Bucket Challenge Nominates Brother Noel

Liam Gallagher Takes #IceBucketChallenge Pretty Much Just So He Can Nominate Noel

You'd think a bucket of ice water over the head would cool you down, but Liam Gallagher looks pissed as ever at his older brother Noel in his ALS Ice Bucket Challenge video. Before getting doused with freezing water (while sitting on a pretty psychedelic Vespa scooter), the Oasis founder chooses his nominations carefully: "I accept this challenge and nominate Spongebob Squarepants, Ivor the Engine, and while we're on cartoon characters, Noel Gallagher."It's unclear whether being called a cartoon character is a gravely serious insult in England, but from what we know about the Gallagher brothers it's easy to assume this is not flattery. Your move, Noel. And in case you just turned on the Internet for the first time in weeks (where could you have been?), this whole thing is for a good cause, bringing awareness to the neurodegenerative condition otherwise known as Lou Gehrig's Disease.

  • Talib Kweli CNN Don Lemon Michael Brown Ferguson Protests

Talib Kweli Tells CNN's Don Lemon How to Do His Job in Ferguson

Talib Kweli's known for being one of hip-hop's strongest wordsmiths not just because of his lyrical wit but also his political, cultural, and social — ahem, excuse us — consciousness. Though the "conscious rapper" title has perhaps been somewhat of a pigeonholing burden on his career since the early 2000s, that hasn't dissuaded him from speaking deliberately, cognizant of the issues and focused on telling his (and many others') truth. If CNN anchor Don Lemon had known any of this about Kweli, or really even how to pronounce his name, maybe he would have had a smoother time interviewing the MC today.

  • Garfunkel and Oats Sports Go Video Saved by the Bell

Garfunkel and Oates Spoof 'Saved By the Bell''s Best Musical Moment

Good news, sports fans! It's sports season, with more and more sports about to start on television and at that local sports space near you. And after "Weird Al" got us all psyched about that big rival game coming up, fellow jokesters Garfunkel and Oates have delivered an equally nondescript sports anthem, celebrating all the excitement and energy that makes sports so freaking awesome. So, yeah, we're ready for all of the sports. Bring 'em on.Best of all, though, Kate and Riki and friend channel Saved By the Bell's Jessie Spano, Kelly Kapowski, and Lisa Turtle — specifically, their band Jesse and the Sundaes in the episode, "Jessie's Song." They get pumped up, shot-for-shot, telling us, "Sports go sports! Athletics are number one! Participants are heroes, go team yeah!" They then over-explain and over-simplify every non-specific detail they can come up with.

  • M83 New Unreleased Lower Your Eyelids To Die With The Sun Video

M83 Stage a Car Crash in 'Lower Your Eyelids to Die With the Sun' Video

M83 mastermind Anthony Gonzalez has been busy lately soundtracking blockbuster dystopian adventures and french orgies, but the good people at Mute are planning to help satiate our desire for epic synthpop on August 25 with a reissue of M83's first three albums. As a reward for our waiting so patiently for his highly anticipated next album, Gonzales has now shared a previously unreleased video for "Lower Your Eyelids to Die With the Sun," the closing track from 2005's Before the Dawn Heals Us. The eight-minute clip posted to Buzzfeed was originally created to screen at the group's Hollywood Bowl show in September 2013. In it, the camera cuts between footage of crash-test dummies and a couple in a car accident beautifully soaring through the air into whatever abstract, infinite cosmos await us after life (ask Flying Lotus about that). Watch it above.

  • The Knife Over Tour We Don't Have Any Obligations to Continue

The Knife Are Over: 'We Don't Have Any Obligations to Continue'

For all their awesomely outlandish experimentalism, one might have hoped the Knife would've gone out with a bang, not an alternate versions album. But it looks like the Swedish electronic duo's June remix collection, Shaken Up Versions, will be it's last release, according to Dazed & Confused. The publication had sent interview questions to the Knife around that project's release, then a "frustrating silence ensued" and lasted months... until now.Thursday, the band returned the questionaire with word of their breakup contained therein. When asked whether the past couple of years had re-energized their interest in the project, Karin Dreijer said their week-long tour in November would be their last. "For me, The Knife is anything and nothing," she wrote. "It can be whatever you want.
