• Black Dynamite Tyler the Creator Erykah Badu Police Brutality Musical

Adult Swim's 'Black Dynamite' Plans Police Brutality Musical With Tyler, the Creator, Erykah Badu

Over the course of its two seasons, Adult Swim's blaxploitation parody Black Dynamite has occasionally enlisted some pretty special guests (including an inspired casting this season of Chance the Rapper as Bob Marley). But according to Pitchfork, January 10 may offer a couple of the most noteworthy guest turns yet. Featuring Tyler, the Creator and Erykah Badu, "The Wizard of Watts" will be a musical episode about "police brutality."Michael Jai White's Black Dynamite generally does his share of crime-fighting and this episode will detail the hallucinations he suffers after he gets hit in the head with a brick during a Watts Riot. Actor Tim Blake Nelson and comedian J.B. Smoove will also appear in the episode, but it's unclear just what roles any of these special guests will be playing. The hourlong special will air on January 10 at 10:30 p.m.

  • One Direction Saturday Night Live Amy Adams

One Direction Make a Swooning Return to 'Saturday Night Live'

Just a month after shirking their boy-band roots on their latest studio LP Four, One Direction made their subdued return to Saturday Night Live. While Amy Adams hosted the episode, the British quintet offered up just a little few of the sugar rush rock hits that can be found on Four. With little more theatricality than a handful of all-black ensembles and 30 Rock's Christmas lights as accompaniment for their soaring new material, the band ran through a couple of U2-indebted cuts from the record, "Ready to Run" and "Night Changes." You can catch the former up above and the latter bellow, alongside the cold open of the show in which Taran Killam offers a pretty hilarious parody of Sam Smith's performance style.

  • Nine Inch Nails Live Bootleg Archive Torrent Download

Fan Compiles Massive Nine Inch Nails Bootleg Archive

If you didn't manage to catch Nine Inch Nails on their most recent tour with Soundgarden, well, here's a bit of good news. Thanks to the efforts of a Trent Reznor megafan, you can now download over a half of a terrabyte's worth of live bootlegs of the former SPIN cover stars, and all in one tidy torrent. Over at NINLive.com, as Radio.com points out, you can now snag 527 GB of live recordings that span 900 audio sources and 575 different shows from across the industrial band's entire career. Obviously, there's few fans out there with that much space sitting on their computer's hard drive, so you're going to need an external (the site's administrator recommends one with at least 750 free GB). And if you're unable to put that sort of load on your internet, you can even mail a drive to the site and they'll put the whole thing on there for you.

  • iLoveMakkonen Ezra Koenig Vampire Weekend Down 4 So Long Despot Remix Stream

Vampire Weekend's Ezra Koenig Gets Goofy on iLoveMakonnen's 'Down 4 So Long' Remix

Atlanta's latest sing-rapping surrealist iLoveMakonnen got the rap world's most crucial co-sign this summer in the form of Drake's remix of his now inescapable track "Club Going Up On a Tuesday." And after riding that wave through a number of high-caliber collaborations, he's teamed up with another unexpected name today. Former SPIN cover star Ezra Koenig (of Vampire Weekend fame) popped up on a new remix of Makonnen's swooning "Down 4 So Long," alongside Queens rapper Despot. The idea of Koenig offering up a few bars in the middle of a rap tracks seems like it could be a little dicey, but his hyper-referential songwriting actually sense in the context of a Makonnen track. Come for the delicate crooning, and stick around for lines about Shmoney dancing goths and Magic! references.

  • Nicki Minaj Pinkprint Short Film Crying Game Grand Piano I Lied

Watch Nicki Minaj's Music Video Melodrama 'The Pinkprint Movie'

A week after the release of her startlingly bare new record The Pinkprint, after teasing it on Twitter earlier in the day, Nicki Minaj released a short film to accompany a handful of the more dramatic tracks on the record, entitled The Pinkprint Movie. Featuring "The Crying Game," "Grand Piano," and "I Lied," three of the swooning tracks from that record's second half, the nocturnal film paints a stark portrait of romantic dissolution over the course of its 16-minute narrative. Music video superstar Nabil helped executive produce the film, along with Lil Wayne and Birdman, but it was directed by Taylor Cohen and Francesco Carrozzini. Watch Nicki's starring role up above in full.

  • Smith Westerns Break Up Final Show

    Smith Westerns Have Broken Up

Seven years after Smith Westerns formed while its principal members were still in high school, the Chicago-based garage rock band has decided to call it quits permanently. Frontman Cullen Omori announced on Twitter earlier this month that the band would be going on an indefinite hiatus following a late December show, but now in an interview with the Chicago Reader, they've announced that their breakup is a little bit more official."The band just didn't work, both creatively and personally," Omori explained. "There's no plans to reignite Smith Westerns. It's broken up."Omori and his brother Cameron say that the decision to break up came once their guitarist and songwriting partner Max Kakacek said he was leaving the band earlier this year.

  • Chance the Rapper Lucki Ecks Stevie Wonder Stream

Chance the Rapper Helps Lucki Eck$ Pay Hazy Tribute to 'Stevie Wonder'

Chicago rapper and "outstanding youth" Chance the Rapper has spent most of his time lately prepping Surf, his first LP with his band the Social Experiment. But given the affinity that he has for his city, it's no surprise that he found some time to lend a hand to a track put together by fellow Chicagoans Lucki Eck$ and Young Chop. On "Stevie Wonder," which is a homage to the legendary songwriter more in name than in sound, the Acid Rapper launches into a one of his familiar psychedelically minded verses to kick off the track, before ceding control to the capable hands of Lucki Eck$ for another fiery set of bars. The track's hazy, post-cloud rap production was also aided by producer Pluto Nash, and you can catch the whole thing below.

  • Charli XCX Saturday Night Live Break the Rules Video

Watch Charli XCX 'Break the Rules' on 'Saturday Night Live'

Charli XCX's latest stunning collection of nü-New Wave cuts, Sucker, finally hits stores next week, so she celebrated this weekend in a couple of the best ways you could imagine. After swinging by New York City's star-studded Jingle Ball on Friday night, she stopped by 30 Rockefeller Plaza for a couple of brief performances on a Martin Freeman-hosted episode of Saturday Night Live. The "Fancy" architect busted out a couple of her recent soaring hits "Boom Clap" and "Break the Rules," backed by suited backing band. Charli apparently told MTV before the performance that she "might vomit," but she held it together for a solid little set. You can catch "Boom Clap" above and "Break the Rules" below

  • Dangelo Black Messiah Red Bull Sugah Daddy Stream Download

D'Angelo Has Finally Returned With the Silky 'Sugah Daddy'

D'Angelo's follow-up to his 2000 soul classic Voodoo has become an almost mythical record at this point, but after last week's news that we'll be hearing it at some point, he's shared the record's first single. As part of Red Bull's 20Before15 program, the first Black Messiah track "Sugah Daddy" saw the light of day in the middle of the night on Sunday. Built around a slinking piano figure, it's a silky, falsetto-laden affair. Though it's a relatively low key reemergence for one of the most celebrated singers of this century, it portends pretty good things for the album as a whole. You can listen to it in at the Red Bull site. D'Angelo was also offering 1,000 free downloads of the track on their site, but it appears that those are already gone. The whole record will debut at a Red Bull and Afropunk-presented listening session in New York City later today.
