  • Target Beyonce Album Not Selling Self-Titled CD

Beyonce Doesn't Need Target to Sell Her Album

But really. Beyoncé's sneak-release of Beyoncé not only got everyone talking, it managed to set simultaneous records by selling 617,000 copies in the U.S. and 828,000 worldwide, in three days, with iTunes as its exclusive distributor.

  • Beyonce 'XO' Video Album Coney Island

Beyonce Is the Queen of Coney Island in 'XO' Video

Beyoncé only just released the steamy video for her new Jay Z team-up, "Drunk in Love," but she's already followed with the Terry Richardson-directed visual for "XO." As you may know, the superstar singer unexpectedly released her superb fifth album, Beyoncé, in the wee hours last week, and the 14-song set came with 17 music videos. Seen above, this clip finds our hostess at Coney Island (remember all of that?), enjoying a day at the park complete with roller-coaster rides, carnival games, and impromtu dance competitions. It's all pretty huge and heartwarming. Also, check out our photos from Bey's Friday night Chicago concert.Update: The Vevo player is experiencing technical difficulties, so for now, watch over on YouTube.

  • Beyonce 'Drunk in Love' Jay Z Video Album

Beyonce and Jay Z Have the Best Sex in "Drunk in Love" Video

If, and only if, you've been cooling out in a sensory deprivation chamber for the last four days, you may have missed the news that Beyoncé pwned the whole damn music game by sneak-releasing her hands-down Essential self-titled fifth album, which happens to be jam-packed with music videos, too — one for every song, and some extras just 'cause. She's poised to shatter all kinds of sales records (okay, she already did by moving 828,773 copies of Beyoncé on iTunes alone in a mere three days) and perhaps as an enticement to convince whatever stone-faced non-purchasing haters are still out there, Queen Bey has shared the beachy video for her Jay Z-featuring "Drunk in Love." Therein, our hostess plays intoxicated on a shoreline at night (still, no "surfbort" in sight), writhing, rolling, and dancing before her hubby shows up with glass in hand.

  • Matthew E. White 'Human Style' Video Outer Face

Matthew E. White Finds Sexual Healing for 'Human Style' Video

Baritone soul man and mad-scientist bandleader Matthew E. White is no stranger to love. When we first met the Breaking Out profile star in 2012, he was cooing Otis Redding lyrics and offering to "stay the night." Much has happened since his excellent Big Inner album arrived — Hot Chip reworked "Big Love," White dubbed Howard Ivans' "Red Face Boy," and the man dropped his Outer Face EP — but the Virginia genius' aim has remained true. In a new clip celebrating that just-out short-player, White sings of being "in a human pile of love and delight." Soaked in choirs and orchestra, "Human Style" gracefully reclaims our, um, positional nicknames from the animals. The visual is far less explicit, capturing White and his gang at the Spacebomb HQ.

  • Son Lux 'Pyre' Video Lanterns Modern Dance

Son Lux Is Smeared With Paint in 'Pyre' Video

As Son Lux, Los Angeles-based producer/singer Ryan Lott imbues minimal soundscapes with bursts of color and undeniable movement. His latest video — for Lanterns standout "Pyre" — does the same in its own way. Above, we see both dancer Bennyroyce Royon and our host against a black backdrop. They are caked in white powder and makeup, but soon, smears and rivulets of paint appear, seeming to move with the song's surging pulse. The Craig Brothers-directed clip comes courtesy of Stereogum. Two months ago we heard rapper Busdriver rhyme over a remixed version of "Easy." Both songs are found on Lanterns, Lott's third album, out now on Joyful Noise Recordings. Son Lux will be touring with a full band in 2014.Son Lux tour dates:January 14 - Berlin, DE @ Bi NuuJanuary 15 - Cologne, DE @ ArttheatreJanuary 16 - St.

  • Angel Olsen 'Stars' Stream Burn Your Fire

Angel Olsen Is Electric on Stormy Stunner 'Stars'

Angel Olsen plugs in for her 2014 album, Burn Your Fire for No Witness. The Missouri-born singer-guitarist wooed the world quietly on last year's Half Way Home, but earlier this month she revealed an electric rebirth via "Forgiven/Forgotten." Her latest song doesn't retreat from that stance — "Stars," shared by Belgian radio show Signaal/Ruis ("Signal/Noise"), finds her darkly resonant quaver ringing out over a stormy soundtrack of fuzzy jangle, humming keys, pounding drums, and rolling bass. Producer John Congleton (Bill Callahan, St. Vincent, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah) assists. Listen below around 5:45 — though, as Stereogum points out, you might as well hear EMA's pretty freaking awesome "Satellite" on the way. And Sharon Van Etten after Olsen, and Belgium's own Pilod after her, and ...UPDATE: The track prematurely leaked and has been pulled down.

  • Baz Luhrmann Hip-Hop TV Drama Show Rap

Baz Luhrmann May Bring Rap's Golden Age to TV

Baz Luhrmann is reportedly in talks to develop a television drama that would be set in New York City during the dawn of hip-hop. The acclaimed director (The Great Gatsby, Moulin Rouge!, Romeo + Juliet) is reportedly working with producer Shawn Ryan (The Shield, Terriers) and playwright Stephen Adly Guirgis (The Motherfucker With the Hat), according to Vulture.Their sources say the series would revolve around the lives of five young friends, though focusing on two in particular — a writer, and a performer. Evidently Netflix, Amazon, and FX have taken meetings on the show, and others including Showtime are rumored to be next. The first season would pick up in 1977, two years before Sugar Hill Gang drop "Rapper's Delight."Thankfully, it will not be a musical.

  • Jay Z Drake Timbaland Know Bout Me Video Timbo

Timbaland, Jay Z, and Drake Drop Post-Apocalyptic 'Know Bout Me' Video

Timbaland had a great 2013, helming not one, but two Justin Timberlake Experiences and Jay Z's blockbuster Magna Carta Holy Grail. He also did a thing or two for that little old Beyonceé album that dropped unexpected in the wee hours. But the Virginia-bred producer/rapper has got his eyes set on 2014 for a solo (re-)breakthrough — just call it Textbook Timbo — which will undoubtedly be incredibly star-studded. How would we know such a thing? Look no further than potential first taste, "Know Bout Me," a swaggering rap roundtable featuring Jay Z, Drake, and JT songsmith James Fauntleroy. Now the song's got a beautifully shot lyric video that follows a leather-clad woman as she explores a bombed-out building in search of a special relic. Watch above.

  • Neko Case 'Calling Cards' Lyric Video

Neko Case's 'Calling Cards' Lyric Video Is Tear-Jerking Sweet

Neko Case picked up a Grammy nomination for her excellent sixth LP, The Worse Things Get, The Harder I Fight, The Harder I Fight, The More I Love You, which comes as no surprise since the thing made SPIN's 50 Best Albums of 2013. Along the way, the New Pornographer has blessed us with a clip for "Night Still Comes," a hilarious Funny or Die session version of "Man," and a swaggering Jimmy Fallon performance. Now she lets loose a lyric video built around "Calling Cards," a gorgeous and bleary-eyed tribute to romance that seems to be directed at another songwriter. The song is a tear-jerker as is, but paired with vintage shots of loved ones sharing each other's company ... well, just make sure that tissue box is handy. Via Stereogum.

  • Majical Cloudz 'Savage' Video Lyrics Impersonator

Majical Cloudz Share Handwritten 'Savage' Video

Last month, Montreal's Majical Cloudz snuck out a new song dubbed "Savage" despite having dropped a whole album's worth of gorgeously minimal synth-pop already this year. Now, that post-Impersonator gem gets a simple video that places the focus on its evocative and mysterious lyrics, full of references to death and love and drugs. Singer Devon Welsh directs, and explains his motivation in a post to the Majical Cloudz Tumblr:This is the music video for the song "Savage." We wanted to make something simple, so my friend Igor came over and we shot it really quickly. He edited it and sent a version of it to me later that night. I tried my hardest to write the lyrics out in time with when they appear in the song. This didn't work out very successfully so Igor edited the footage a little bit in order to keep the pace.
