  • Lee Ranaldo Dust Conan Lecce Leaving Video Steve Shelly

Lee Ranaldo and the Dust Shred 'Conan' Gently With 'Lecce, Leaving'

Rock solid post-Sonic Youth band Lee Renaldo and the Dust hit Conan on Thursday night to perform "Lecce, Leaving." Accompanied by his former bandmate Steve Shelly on drums, guitarist Alan Licht, and bassist Tim Lüntze, the silver-haired songsmith let loose an occasionally fuzzy, often anthemic alt-rock gush. That song, of course, hails from the group's October debut, Last Night on Earth. Watch above and take note — this man didn't tie for first on SPIN's 100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time list for slacking on the shred. If you haven't yet, dig into Kim Gordon's Body/Head LP Coming Apart. Thurston Moore's debut with Chelsea Light Moving was equally impressive. To find out where they all place, review SPIN's 50 Best Albums of 2013.

  • Disclosure Latch DJ Premier Remix Settle

DJ Premier Gives Disclosure's 'Latch' a Minimal Piano-Laced Remix

Legendary Gang Starr founder DJ Premier is the latest remixer to lend his touch to the songs on Disclosure's Essential album Settle. Below, he reworks "Latch," which features rising R&Bist Sam Smith and here is made wonderfully minimal. Vocals and piano are at the forefront, catching in little loops along the way while the drum beats on methodically. Primo's version will land on the forthcoming Settle – The Remixes (U.S.) and Settle Special Edition (U.K.) collections, and is testament to the fact that Disclosure are at the helm of SPIN's 2013 Trend of the Year. The Lawrence brothers' debut LP also made several of our lists.Check out:SPIN's 50 Best Albums of 2013SPIN's 20 Best Dance Albums of 2013SPIN's 20 Best Pop Albums of 2013SPIN's 50 Best Songs of 2013

  • Gucci Mane Migos Jackie Chan Zaytoven

Gucci Mane and Migos Are Only a Little Racist on 'Jackie Chan'

On a brand new song, rappers who've hijacked the names of fashion houses for their own ends turn their attention an action movie star. Yes, Gucci Mane and those Versace-loving Migos fellows come together on "Jackie Chan," a song that pays tribute to the Hong Kong icon even as it tosses out racist overdubs ("Ching-chong!") and referenced to eyelid aperture ("My eyes look so Asian, mane / 'Cause I'm smokin' that purple thang"). Also, a whole lot of Chris Tucker references, and at least one Chuck Norris drop. This Zaytoven-produced trap treat will find a home on The State Vs. Radric Davis 2: The Caged Bird Sings, Gucci's new tape scheduled to arrive on Christmas Day. That title, of course, is a friendly reminder that Mr. Mane is currently behind bars and facing up to 20 years.Take a gander at SPIN's 40 Best Hip-Hop Albums of 2013, and our 50 Best Rap Songs.

  • R. Kelly Christmas Album Love-Making 12 Nights

    R. Kelly's Christmas Album Will Include 'a Lot of Love-Making'

If you too have noticed a palpable drought of Christmas-themed love-making music in your life, R. Kelly has got your back (or whichever part you prefer). In a video interview with Rap-Up, he let the red-nosed cat out of the giant fur-rimmed gift bag: He's eyeing a 2014 release for a holiday set dubbed 12 Days of Christmas which he says will include "a lot of love-making.""I started it last Christmas actually," he revealed, "but I don't believe in putting out a Christmas album just to sell records." Kelz sees you, Duck Dynasty. He then quoted Donny Hathaway's "This Christmas," said his next proper album is "halfway written already," and that he's also got "seven or eight albums sitting up like rockets, ready to launch." So if you weren't a fan of Black Panties, there's hope yet.

  • Wampire 'Giants' Video Curiosity

Watch Wampire's Delightfully Schizo 'Giants' Video

Wampire's debut album Curiosity came out in May, but the Portland synth-and-surf duo have blanketed 2013 with spooky, punky goodness. We first heard "The Hearse" back in January, and that organ-blaring pop bruiser more recently yielded an amazing video spoofing '80s slasher flicks. Now director David Fine takes on "Giants," an alternately explosive and grooving highlight that opens with the words, "I couldn't believe the size of my mind, the size of my eyes / Three times bigger than I'll ever be." The clip has a similarly trippy bent, following the adventures of a bookish woman and a shirtless beast of a man who seems to be her inner id. You haven't lived until you've seen armpit hair blowing in the wind. Revisit Wampire's "Spirit Forest" on your way out the door.
