'Frozen' Soundtrack No. 1 Again, Queen Elsa Trumps Queen Bey

First! Beyon—say, wait a minute here... Despite industry projections that Beyoncé's December surprise would return to its rightful place on the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart, the soundtrack to Disney's Frozen remains No. 1 for a second week with 86,000 copies sold. In no world (except maybe Candy Land) is that a small feat — the last animated feature score to rule the top 10 was The Lion King, which reigned for 10 weeks back in 1994. Last week's sales bump came courtesy of an iTunes discount, but this week's win is all due to the success of the movie, which has now done $318 million at North American box offices, and been in the top three of top grossers for every week that it's been out so far, since November 27. Beyoncé stayed at No.

  • Acquaintance 'Two Minds' Stream Satellite Album

    Hear Acquaintance's Pillow-Soft Glitch-House Dream 'Two Minds'

Acquaintance heads up Brighton, England's multitalented Anti-Ghost Moon Ray collective and specializes in a singular mix of busy beatwork and softly androgynous vocals. His 2013 Parapsychology EP displayed plenty of promise, but March 10 brings Satellite Stream, a nine-song set that balances a clear love for '80s pop against the steady pulse of house and the yearning character of '90s R&B.Below, you'll find standout track "Two Minds," in which the man born Chris Griffin sings of science and social interaction over keys, claps, choral cooing, synth strings, and dancing bits of glitch. Look for full-lengths this year by fellow AGMR members Gazelle Twin, Great Pagans, and Bernholz. Visit The Quietus to hear "Making Eye Contact."Acquaintance, Satellite Stream track list:1. • Akounak Tuareg Prince Purple Rain Guitarist Kickstarter Movie

Help Fund the African 'Purple Rain'

Kickstarter users right now have a chance to back the very first Tuareg-language fiction film. Better still, the movie about the guitar-loving nomadic African people is a rock-u-drama modeled after Prince's Purple Rain. In fact it's titled Akounak Tedalat Taha Tazoughai, which cheekily translates to "Rain the Color of Blue With a Little Red in It." Also inspired by The Harder They Come, the story follows a young musician who's trying to "make is against all odds."American abroad Christopher Kirkley is directing — the self-described "gentleman explorer" has been archiving music in the Sahel region since 2009 — but the tale was written by Tuareg youth, and the movie is being produced for a Tuareg audience, filmed in Niger with a Tuareg cast and crew.

The Dead Weather Lose Their Minds on 'Rough Detective'

In December, the Dead Weather came roaring back with the garage-blues stormer "Open Up," one of two new songs previously only available to members of the Third Man Vault. Now the other one has been let loose and it's an even wilder example of what can be accomplished when these four — Jack White, the Kills' Alison Mosshart, Queens of the Stone Age's Dean Fertita, and the Raconteurs' Jack Lawrence — get together in a room. "Rough Detective" is a completely freaky collision of hard-grinding guitars, crashing drums, creepy falsetto, and maniacal laughter. The Dead Weather are slated to continue releasing two-song 7-inches from now until 2015, where they plan to compile everything into a third proper album. Get weird:

Neneh Cherry Shares Dance-Floor Brooders 'Everything' and 'Weightless'

Above you'll find a performance of the surging and soulful "Weightless," recorded with a backing band for PRI's Studio 360 — that's a brand new share from the new LP, and likewise for "Everything." The studio version of that sparse, seven-minute, dark dance jam can be heard below.

  • Justin Bieber's Ill-Fated Egg Raid Ends in Cocaine Arrest

Justin Bieber's Ill-Fated Egg Raid Ends in Cocaine Arrest

Really. Justin Bieber allegedly led an egg raid on a neighbor's home in his gated Calabasas, California community last week. In response, 11 L.A. County Sheriff patrol cars rolled up on his residence Tuesday morning and busted in (TMZ reports the presence of a battering ram) with a felony search warrant. And when they came in, they found cocaine "in plain view." The Biebz was cleared as "not connected" to the drugs, but his buddy Lil Za was taken away in handcuffs.Police were supposedly looking for anything that would connect the embattled star to the act of vandalism — mainly security footage from his own house, but also possibly eggs of a similar mark. Edible evidence can be slippery though. Below you can see footage shot by the neighbor on the night of the attack. The man, ahem, eggs on his assailant from a window.

  • Saint Laurent YSL Curtis Harding Model NSFW Video

Curtis Harding Shreds for Saint Laurent in NSFW 'Next Time' Video

Fashion house Saint Laurent's love affair with the excellent Burger Records imprint continues in this new video starring Curtis Harding, a former member of Cee-Lo Green's band who moonlights in Black Lips side-group Night Sun. When last we heard from the Michigan bluesman, he was paying tribute to the late, great Lou Reed for Burger's version of White Light/White Heat, ripping through a gospel-fueled cover of "Here She Comes Now." We also recently shared a track from the label's Los Angeles signing Cherry Glazerr, who soundtracked an earlier Saint Laurent clip. Now, the iconic mark and the very talented Harding come together in "Next Time," a slow-burning track pairs shots of the man strumming in leather fringe with footage of a topless model lounging on a sofa — all shot by Hedi Slimane.

  • Phantogram 'Nothing but Trouble' Stream

Hear Phantogram's Darkly Shreddy 'Nothing but Trouble'

Phantogram have let slip a third song from their long-awaited second album, Voices. "Nothing but Trouble" is available for immediate download to any who pre-order the February 18 set on iTunes, Amazon, or via the group itself. Singer Sarah Barthel and producer Josh Carter's latest share continues the promise of early tastes "Fall in Love" and "Black Out Days," combining haunting vocals with a backing track that melds post-punk shred, the Knife-like weirdness, and trip-hop beatwork. "Ever have the feeling that you've constantly been dreaming? This is life," the song begins — thus far Voices appears to be thematically dark, dealing with paranoia and inner turmoil with a claustrophobic score to match. Which is exactly why it's one of SPIN's 50 Albums You Gotta Hear in 2014.

Merchandise Celebrate Signing With 14-Minute 'Begging for Your Life' Single

Reverb-loving rock dramatists Merchandise have signed with 4AD and are marking the occasion by releasing a 14-minute-long song. Coming to download on January 15 and vinyl February 25, "Begging for Your Life / In the City Light" initially appeared on a tour-only split cassette with Thurston Moore's Chelsea Light Moving. The new physical release will be limited as well — there will be 1,000 copies of the etched, clear 12-inch. An edit can be heard above, emerging from a pile of brass into a dark corridor of echoing drums and quavering vocals, and eventually entering a maelstrom of comely noise. Merchandise are reportedly at work in their Tampa home studio, crafting their follow-up to 2013's Totale Night.

  • Kim Dotcom MegaUpload Political Party New Zealand Megaparty

MegaUpload Boss Kim Dotcom Founds Internet-Friendly Political Party

Indicted MegaUpload founder Kim Dotcom is launching a political party in New Zealand on Monday, the second anniversary of the police raid on his Auckland mansion. Born Kim Schmitz in Germany, the 39-year-old is not a local citizen and therefore not eligible to run, but he will be funding the so-called Megaparty. The exact political bent of his platform is unknown, though he's criticized liberals and conservatives alike, and unsurprisingly has espoused libertarian ideals. In a recent interview with Vice, transcribed by FACT, Dotcom criticized the Kiwi establishment. "Where the government is supposed to serve us, the people, we are paying with our taxes that they do a good job for us," he said. "And look what they do, they undermine our rights, they destroy our freedoms, they censor our Internet — so we are the ones who have to bring that change.
