  • The Men Tomorrow's Hits Pearly Gates Stream

Hear the Men's Gloriously Hi-Fi 'Pearly Gates'

It wouldn't be a new year, officially, without a brand new album from the Men on the docket. The Brooklyn quintet has maintained a breakneck pace of release since dropping their debut LP Immaculada in 2010, cramming (at the very least) one full-length into every 12-month span. What's shocking is that each release seems to be a little better than the last. To wit, on 2013's New Moon, the raucous gang got both noisier and cozier. Now we've got the first taste of their next set — Tomorrow's Hits, due March 4 via Sacred Bones — and they sound more fired up than ever."Pearly Gates" features a fierce tempo and a whole bunch of shredding (across all instruments), capturing the Men live in the same room making a bid for the title of rowdiest bar band of all time.

  • Frozen Soundtrack Billboard Charts Beyonce Eminem

Disney's 'Frozen' Soundtrack Leaves Beyonce in the Cold

First! For only the fourth time since the Billboard 200 chart went weekly in 1956, a cartoon movie's soundtrack is the biggest selling album in the land. The film is Disney's Frozen, and its musical accompaniment has accomplished the rare feat of growing in sales every week that it's been out. The thing started in mid-December at No. 18 and is now No. 1 with an additional 165,000 sold, for a four-week total of half a million. Interestingly, the last soundtrack to hit No. 1 came from Les Misérables exactly one year ago. That's because the first weekend of the new year is a big one for moviegoers, and Frozen topped U.S. and Canuck box offices in that most recent frame, earning $238 million. In all of the top 20, this soundtrack is the only release to post gains.

See Twin Shadow Remake 112's '90s R&B Classic 'Cupid'

Twin Shadow's unpredictable Under the Cvrs series continues with a welcome return to '90s R&B. Ex-Bad Boy quartet 112 are paid tribute with this stirring cover of their 1995 hit "Cupid." Seen above, the man born George Lewis Jr. delivers a huskier take on the yearning track, adding a warbling electronic beat and a wobbly guitar solo. We've previously heard the man's takes on U2's "With or Without You," Lou Reed's "Perfect Day," Tori Amos' "Silent All These Years," Bruce Springsteen's "I'm on Fire," and 10cc's "Not in Love." Revisit the original "Cupid" below.

  • Damaged Bug 'Eggs at Night' John Dwyer Thee Oh Sees

Thee Oh Sees' John Dwyer Goes Synth on Solo Project

Thee Oh Sees caused a lot of worry when frontman John Dwyer announced to a San Francisco crowd that the December show would be the beloved band's last "for a long while." The garage-rock crew have since called an official hiatus, but fans can take solace in the fact that their leader won't be idle. On February 25, Dwyer will release his first album as Damaged Bug. The 12-song set will be called Hubba Bubba and is preceded by "Eggs at Night," a lo-fi synthpop offering with droning vocals à la early Brian Eno. Fittingly, that glam guru appears in the provided artwork (by Deirdre White) via an illustration of the framed photograph on the cover of Here Come the Warm Jets. The solo outing has a home on Dwyer's own label, Castle Face.Damaged Bug, Hubba Bubba track list:1. "Gloves for Garbage"2. "Rope Burn"3. "Eggs at Night"4. "SS Cassidinea"5. "Catastrophobia"6. • Jonwayne Scoop DeVille The Come Up Video

Jonwayne Raps Inside of a Giant Diamond in 'The Come Up' Video

Los Angeles rapper-producer Jonwayne had an immense 2013. He dropped two mixtapes, picked up a cease and desist from Marlboro, reclaimed his family name from a certain acting cowboy (explained here), and closed with Rap Album One, one of the unsung greats of last year's hip-hop slate. Now that 11-song set spawns an official video for Scoop DeVille-assissted highlight "The Come Up." Directed by Henry DeMaio, the black-and-white clip finds our hero surrounded by the youthful signifiers — a white picket fence, a school desk, a tricycle toting a boom-box. Scoop emerges from a far more grown-up vehicle (is that Peanut Butter Wolf alter-ego Folerio acting as chauffeur?) but Jonwayne shouldn't be jealous. By the end he's rapping from within a diamond.

  • Conor Oberst Anonymous Rape Allegation Response Libel

Conor Oberst Denies Anonymous Rape Allegation, Consults Lawyer

Conor Oberst's publicist has responded to an anonymous Internet commenter's allegations that the Bright Eyes leader committed rape 10 years ago. Last month, XOJane published an article written by a woman who'd suffered through an abusive relationship with a famous musician. Beneath the story, a reader wrote: "I was raped by a 'rock star' myself. I was 16 years old, he was in his 20s ... This guy is the poster boy for what was known as 'emo.'"In a later comment — all are collected in a Tumblr post that's gone viral — she outed Oberst, explained that his older brother was her English teacher and that he introduced the two in honor of her 16th birthday. She "had been his biggest fan for several years," and she said that's also why no one believed her at the time, including her own mother.
