  • Owls Two Tim Kinsella I'm Surprised Stream Track List

Owls Unsurprisingly Sound Great on Return Song 'I'm Surprised'

In December, emo OG Tim Kinsella confirmed to SPIN that his long-dormant Owls outfit would make a grand return in 2014. We then got an enigmatic trailer for the thing courtesy of the Polyvinyl label and now an entire new song (along with a few more details). The 13-years-in-the-making sophomore album will be called Two, and it'll hit stands on March 25. Oh, and there's a track list below and album art that includes the bleeding face of Noel Gallagher. But first, take in "I'm Surprised...", a smoldering slab of burnt rock that proves nothing was lost in the interim. "The band dynamic was eerily similar to the first record," said Mike Kinsella via statement. "In some ways I think we all regressed to whatever roles we filled then, for better and for worse." Seems like better for now.Owls, Two track list:1. "Four Works of Art..."2. "I'm Surprised..."3. "The Lion..."4. "Why Oh Why..."5.

Tree's 'Like Whoa' Is Another Soulful Missive From Chicago's Tough Terrain

Tree is another of Chicago's rising rap stars, emerging from the city's drill-music scene with a soulful mix of smoky melody and thoughtful rhyme — he calls it "soultrap," for what it's worth. Last year's Sunday School II: When Church Lets Out made good on the promise of his early offering Trillin', and now he's set to let loose a new short-player for the new year. Courtesy of Scion AV, we'll get The @MCTREEG EP on January 21. For now, we've got "Like Whoa," a meditative track that finds the inimitable gruff-voiced artist at the top of his game. • Speedy Ortiz 'American Horror' Stream Real Hair

Speedy Ortiz Shred on Sweetly Sour 'American Horror'

Northampton shredders Speedy Ortiz were responsible for one of 2013's unsung gems. The fuzz-addled alt-rock reviver known as Major Arcana spoke to Sadie Dupuis' promise as an ace songwriter and band boss, and 2014 should find her delivering in spades. On February 14, the four-piece returns with their Real Hair EP, via Carpark. We've already heard the aptly named "Everything's Bigger," and now there's "American Horror" to consider. Below, Dupuis capitalizes on her knack for sour-sweet melody and introspective lyricism.

  • The Men Tomorrow's Hits Pearly Gates Stream

Hear the Men's Gloriously Hi-Fi 'Pearly Gates'

It wouldn't be a new year, officially, without a brand new album from the Men on the docket. The Brooklyn quintet has maintained a breakneck pace of release since dropping their debut LP Immaculada in 2010, cramming (at the very least) one full-length into every 12-month span. What's shocking is that each release seems to be a little better than the last. To wit, on 2013's New Moon, the raucous gang got both noisier and cozier. Now we've got the first taste of their next set — Tomorrow's Hits, due March 4 via Sacred Bones — and they sound more fired up than ever."Pearly Gates" features a fierce tempo and a whole bunch of shredding (across all instruments), capturing the Men live in the same room making a bid for the title of rowdiest bar band of all time.

  • Frozen Soundtrack Billboard Charts Beyonce Eminem

Disney's 'Frozen' Soundtrack Leaves Beyonce in the Cold

First! For only the fourth time since the Billboard 200 chart went weekly in 1956, a cartoon movie's soundtrack is the biggest selling album in the land. The film is Disney's Frozen, and its musical accompaniment has accomplished the rare feat of growing in sales every week that it's been out. The thing started in mid-December at No. 18 and is now No. 1 with an additional 165,000 sold, for a four-week total of half a million. Interestingly, the last soundtrack to hit No. 1 came from Les Misérables exactly one year ago. That's because the first weekend of the new year is a big one for moviegoers, and Frozen topped U.S. and Canuck box offices in that most recent frame, earning $238 million. In all of the top 20, this soundtrack is the only release to post gains.
