  • N.A.S.A. Karen O Bob Marley I Shot the Sheriff Cover Stream

N.A.S.A. and Karen O Drop Disco Cover of Bob Marley's 'I Shot the Sheriff'

It's been awhile since we're heard from N.A.S.A., but there are worse ways to stage a comeback than with a dub-disco version of Bob Marley's "I Shot the Sheriff" sung by Yeah Yeah Yeahs leader Karen O. The new collaboration helmed by Sam Spiegel debuted in a Sonos ad on a Grammys commercial break Sunday night (see the clip below), so it's unclear whether or not the arrival hails the coming of a proper sequel to 2009's The Spirit of Apollo to which Ms. O contributed alongside a rogue's gallery of music-makers including David Byrne, Lykke Li, Kanye West, M.I.A., RZA, Ghostface Killah, Santigold, Chuck D, George Clinton, and so many others. That said, December also brought a new N.A.S.A. song — "Hide," featuring Aynzli Jones.

  • Sundance 2014 Winners List Whiplash Nick Cave Belle Sebastian

Nick Cave, Belle & Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch Win Sundance Prizes

The winners of the 2014 Sundance Film Festival have been announced, and music reigns supreme. The top dramatic film is Whiplash — that "bebop Black Swan," starring J. K. Simmons as a maniacal drum teacher, nabbing both the Grand Jury Prize and the Audience Award in the U.S. Dramatic race. Meanwhile, Nick Cave's reality-blurring 20,000 Days on Earth is the only other feature to nab two awards (lower profile though they may be): one for directing, and one for editing in the World Cinema Documentary category. What's more, the musical written and directed by Belle & Sebastian's Stuart Murdoch has nabbed the honor with the longest title on the list, which has got to count for something.

  • Todd Terje 'It's Album Time' Bryan Ferry Cover Track List

Todd Terje Teams With Bryan Ferry for 'It's Album Time' Debut

Norwegian summer-jam genius Todd Terje will release his debut album on April 8. Perfectly, the 12-song platter will be called It's Album Time. Unexpectedly, Roxy Music man Bryan Ferry will guest on a song called "Johnny and Mary." Below the official video for album closer "Inspector Norse," you'll find the track list and cover art. The latter comes courtesy of Bendik Kaltenborn, the in-house illustrator for Terje's Olsen Records, and features a version of the mustachioed disco-dropper in a leisure suit, leaning over a piano with an array of tropical cocktails at his disposal. Late last year we heard new tunes "Spiral" and "Q," but neither will reappear here. For more Terje, check out some of SPIN's Best Dance Tracks of 2013, and his ever-excellent June gift "Strandbar."It's Album Time track list:1. "Intro (It's Album Time)"2. "Leisure Suit Preben"3. • Grammys Backstage Imagine Dragons Queen Latifah Paul McCartney

Backstage at the Grammys With Paul McCartney, Queen Latifah, Imagine Dragons, and More

Darius Rucker is talking over Beyoncé. The queen is straddling her throne, grinding her surfbort on a pair of televisions to his right and left, but no one in the 2014 Grammys pressroom can appreciate this moment, because Hootie won't shut his smug craw. He won a country statue for "Wagon Wheel," a song sketched by Bob Dylan, made famous by Old Crow Medicine Show, and recorded by Rucker after he happened to stumble across it via a performance at his daughter's high school talent show."Now I've got a Grammy," shrugs the Blowfish. "It's pretty awesome."We only wanna be with Bey.

  • Pixies 'Magdelena' Video Tour Dates EP-2

Pixies' Mean 'Magdelena' Comes to Life in Odd, Arty Video

Alt-icons Pixies continue their return run with the video for "Magdelena," a freshly shared cut from their surprise release, EP-2. We previously heard the howling, cowbell-bolstered rock stomper "Blue-Eyed Hexe," but this track trades in a low-and-slow grind not unlike a Queens of the Stone Age cut. In a cool falsetto, Black Francis sings of the song's cruel titular subject while director Judy Jacob brings the character to life with help from British performance artist Nando Messias. Sandwiches are stolen, black-lit rice falls from the heavens, and there's some very strange behavior involving a hard-boiled egg. Catch the Boston-reared band on tour via the dates below.

  • David Lynch 'And Light Shines' Stream Big Dream Deluxe

David Lynch Is a Sage Spirit-Guide on 'And Light Shines'

David Lynch released his second album, The Big Dream, last year and continued his impeccable legacy of out-of-time art — an entrancing combination of shadowy enigma, curious philosophy, and wide-eyed wonder — that never fails to deliver to its devoted audience. • Tensnake Nile Rodgers 'Love Sublime' Video Fiora

Tensnake, Nile Rodgers Take Deep House to the Disco in 'Love Sublime' Video

Whether or not Daft Punk and their "Get Lucky" buddy Pharrell Williams have achieved maximum market saturation is a matter of debate, but even the toughest cynic should melt in front of Nile Rodgers' grin. The Chic guitarist beat cancer last year just in time to score a front seat to his own career's renaissance. Thanks to his trio of Random Access Memories assists, he's recorded with Disclosure, rocked with Bono, and sat in with the Roots on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon. Now he teams with German deep house producer Tensnake and vocalist Fiona for "Love Sublime," a song that does not in fact appear to be an admission of guilty pleasure where the works of a certain Long Beach reggae-rock band are concerned. Instead, we get a disco-kissed dance track that sulks and soars in turn, and whose video offers a mysterious night in the City of Angels.

  • Adele Phil Collins Working Together New Album

Adele and Phil Collins Are Working Together

Phil Collins has revealed that he's working on music with Adele. The former Genesis leader and solo '80s icon gave an interview to Inside South Florida in which he explained that the 25-year-old powerhouse soul singer reached out to him about collaborating."I've just started to work with Adele. She contacted me to write together," he said, according to MTV before going on. "I wasn't actuality too aware [of her]. I live in a cave [but] she's achieved an incredible amount and I really love her voice and I love some of that stuff she's done. So, to me, it's always an eye-opener [to work with new people]. Educational."Collins has considerable chops as a producer, having taken on that roll not only for his own material, but on albums by others including Eric Clapton, Adam Ant, and the Four Tops.

  • Cat Power 'Free' Girls Remix Stream HBO Soundtrack

Cat Power's 'Free' Gets Dance Remix for HBO's 'Girls'

On Cat Power's "Free," Chan Marshall coos, "True romance ... when you dance." Now a reworked version of that You Are Free standout arrives tailor-made to elicit that very response. Remixed for the second Girls soundtrack, the 2003 classic gets a pulsing new beat, some serrated synths, and a little bit of reverb-assisted urgency. We've heard other original highlights from the HBO show ahead of this: Jenny Lewis' "Completely Not Me" and Lizzo's "Paris," with more on the way from Miguel, Beck, Lily Allen, and Christina Perri. Everybody, come together, courtesy of Stereogum.

  • Grizzly Bear Baths Remix 'Will Calls' Stream Tour

Baths Gives Grizzly Bear's 'Will Calls' a Glistening Beat

Late last year, Grizzly Bear reissued an expanded version of 2012's Shields featuring demos, B-sides, and remixes relevant to that masterful album. Familiar figures like Liars and Lindstrøm reworked some of the original songs wth aplomb, but now we have a later entry: Los Angeles singer/producer Baths takes on "Will Calls (Marfa Demo)," which is fitting not just because he has shown ample capacity for the kind of beautiful darkness heard on the original, but also because, well, his real name is Will. Get it? In any case, Mr. Wiesenfeld here completely reinvents the song, giving it skittering beats, swelling sequences, and his own choral vocals. (Compare that to Diplo's version, also below.) Baths is soon touring behind his excellent 2013 platter Obsidian. Review the dates below, along with a few for Grizzly man Daniel Rossen, who hits the road in March.
