  • Pearl Jam Rolling Stones 'Shattered' Video Jeanne Tripplehorn

See Eddie Vedder and Jeanne Tripplehorn Charmingly Cover the Rolling Stones

Something you may not know about Criminal Minds star Jeanne Tripplehorn: In the words of Pearl Jam main man Eddie Vedder, "She has this incredible ability to sing any Rolling Stones song as Julie Andrews." It's true, and you can witness this feat above, as Vedder and Tripplehorn (Basic Instinct, The Firm, Big Love) cover "Shattered," from 1978's Some Girls. Therein, he plays the Keith Richards to her Mick Jagger (as Andrews), and the results are as charming as they are fun. The footage comes from a fundraiser for Heal EB, a nonprofit dedicated to funding a cure/raising awareness for the life-threatening skin condition epidermolysis bullosa. Pearl Jam, of course, are celebrating the release of Lightning Bolt.

  • Danny Brown Hannibal Buress Interview Video

Danny Brown on Social Media: 'You Can't Just Call People a Crackhead'

Sonically speaking, it's been a damn fine 2013, so SPIN celebrated our Year in Music last week with an invite-only gala at Brooklyn's Music Hall of Williamsburg. The lineup was indicative of our staff's eclectic taste: pop hurricane Charli XCX, indie-rock legends Superchunk, and last but hardly least, Danny Brown. We captured some great performance footage of Detroit's proudest son, and we'll share that soon, but first to the behind-the-scenes. Our host for the night was Hannibal Buress — clutch wingman on The Eric André Show, and an ace comic himself — and the man took a little time to catch up with Brown backstage.Above, you'll the Old MC talking about his restless life on the road, admitting that visiting South Africa changed his perspective, and explaining why he stopped stage-diving at shows.

  • Courtney Love Lawsuit Attorney Rhonda Holmes Twitter

Courtney Love's Twitter Defamation Case Is Going to Trial

A Los Angeles Superior Court judge today ruled that the defamation lawsuit against Courtney Love filed by former attorney Rhonda Holmes will go forward. Naturally, the case dates back to a series of tweets sent from the alt-rock icon. In June of 2010 she publicly accused her former legal rep of having been "bought off," writing, "They got to her," in regards to an investigation into the management of the Kurt Cobain estate.Love's current lawyers' defense was, with credit to precedent-setter Childish Gambino, "because the Internet." They argued hyperbole and sensational language are par for the course in social media, and that claims made via Twitter should not be held to the same standard as information transmitted by news organizations.

  • Arsenio Hall Chance Rapper Chain Smoker Video Chicago

Chance the Rapper Brings 'Chain Smoker,' Full Band to 'Arsenio'

Chance the Rapper visited The Arsenio Hall Show on Thursday night. While there was one particular moment dear to our hearts — the estimable host introduced him as "SPIN Magazine's Rapper of the Year," which he is — the true highlight was the Chicago MC/songbird's band-backed performance of "Chain Smoker" from Acid Rap, which ranked mighty high on our Best Hip-Hop Albums and Best Albums (period) lists. Seen above, Chancelor Bennett gives it his all on the soulful song, even throwing in some MJ-inspired moves. Meanwhile, below you can see him sit down with Hall below for a brief interview in which he calls for peace in his hometown and advocates for the formation of a rappers' union.

  • Pandora BMI Court Licensing Publishing Artists

Pandora Loses Case Against BMI, Will Have to Pay More for Music

In September, Internet radio provider Pandora scored a court victory against the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP). At stake: though the performing rights organization had sold a blanket license to Pandora — which allows the latter access to the ASCAP's massive catalog of songs — powerful publishers whose in-demand property was included sought to negotiate their own fees directly with the streaming service. At the time, a federal judge honored Pandora's request for a court order against such practices, ruling that the original deal with ASCAP superseded all attempts to secure more favorable rates — essentially, that every artist's catalog is worth the same, be they unheard of or famous. But Pandora also went up against the another massive music publishing umbrella: Broadcast Music, Inc. (BMI).

  • Miley Cyrus Barbara Walters Video Slut Interesting People

Miley Cyrus' Mom Tells Barbara Walters Her Daughter's a Normal Kid

On Wednesday night, December 18, Miley Cyrus sat down with Barbara Walters for the broadcast journalist's annual special, The 10 Most Fascinating People of the Year, a list that for 2013 also included Kimye, Jennifer Lawrence, and Hilary Clinton. At the beginning of the segment on our beloved Bangerz-maker, the 84-year-old TV legend let's us know the score: "This year, Miley Cyrus got on the 'Wrecking Ball' and destroyed Hannah Montana." That's what we said. For now, at least, you can watch the interview above (if it disappears, we'll try to find a replacement).

  • Burger Records Holiday Mix Stream Cornershop Muffs Christmas

Stream Burger Records' Three-Hour Holiday Mix With the Muffs, Cornershop, More

It's been a big year for Fullerton, California's Burger Records, the little Orange County cassette label that could. The punk- and garage-oriented imprint has been pumping out the fuzz-blasted jams since 2007, but they've been unstoppable since the rise of King Tuff, whose long-lost Was Dead album got a proper reissue from Burger (its original home) this year. Since, we've heard from the Memories, Cherry Glazerr, Natural Child, Burnt Ones, Curtis Harding, Sauna, and so many more fresh-faced bands with promise.

  • Rick Ross Jay Z Devil Is Lie Stream Mastermind

Jay Z Claims Barneys Victory on Rick Ross' 'The Devil Is a Lie'

Rick Ross and Jay Z both made SPIN's 2013 Hall of Shame and now they come together again on "The Devil Is a Lie." On his new single, the Bawse wisely avoids retreading his 2013 misfires (namely, the rape-celebrating verse of "U.O.E.N.O."), but Hova can't pass up a chance to raise the flag of victory over his controversial team-up with a certain high-end retailer accused of racial profiling:"You seen what I did to the stop and frisk / Brooklyn all in Barneys like we own the bitch / Giving money to the hood now we all win / Got that Barneys floor looking like a V.I.M. / Black hoodie, black skully." Both of which go very nicely with a $58,000 crocodile-skin jacket, by the way. To the man's credit, the money is indeed going to charity.

  • Against Me! Black Me Out Stream Tour Dates

Against Me! Rail Against Major Labels on 'Black Me Out'

Against Me! have shared a second song from their highly anticipated Transgender Dysphoria Blues, the Florida punks' sixth album and first since singer Tom Gabel became Laura Jane Grace. "Black Me Out" features her trademark earnest delivery and non-nonsense lyrics: "I want to piss on the walls of your house / I want to chop those brass rings off your fat fucking fingers / As if you were a kingmaker." Considering the new one will arrive via the band's own Total Treble label, it seems highly likely our heroine is here railing against her former major label overlords.Physical and digital pre-orders are already up for the January 21 release, the latter coming with an instant download of the previously heard, highly anthemic "FUCKMYLIFE666." Against Me!
