  • Actress 'Miami Retirement Condo' Stream Download Free

Actress Offers 'Miami Retirement Condo' as Free 'Ghettoville' B-Side

Actress' new Ghettoville album is, as Philip Sherburne put it, a spectacularly icy riot of grouchy, grimy outsider dance music. It also may very well turn out to be Darren Cunningham's final album under the alias, so we're thankful for all of the extras we can get. Following up the sensuality-warping "Rap" stream and his eerie black-label single "Grey Over Blue," the London producer now shares an unreleased cut called "Miami Retirement Condo." The moody and minimal track weaves through a strange soundscape of broken beats, disembodied voices, and snaking synths. Download the song for free via Sendspace, or stream it below.

  • The Wytches 'Gravedweller' Video Download Free

The Wytches Aren't Scared of the Dark in 'Gravedweller' Video

A week ago the Wytches took us by storm with "Wire Frame Mattress," a heavy-meets-catchy collision of Black Sabbath sonics, Jack White weirdness, and Dick Dale wilding. They've followed that up with a brand new video for "Gravedweller," another surf-sludge win that finds Kristian Bell wailing about darkness and death while bassist Dan Rumsey, and drummer Gianni Honey do their thing. The Hoodbats-directed clip is public access television meets Blair Witch Project. Download "Gravedweller" and two B-sides for free using the widget below. Expect an album on Partisan in May.

  • Warner Music Group Shazam Label Spy Sign Artists

Warner Music Will Use Shazam to Spy on Us Now

Shazam will no longer be the friendly little helper app we've all come to rely upon in moments of face-palming forgetfulness or new-music discovery. It will still identify songs in the same manner that it always has, but thanks to a new partnership with Warner Music Group, the program will be studying our interest and habits in order to figure out which emerging artists it should sign. Yes, the world's first robotic record label has been born.Warner is launching a Shazam-branded label "that will identify unsigned artists by combining traditional A&R with the music ID app's massive fan activity data." And of course, "The partnership will also market existing WMG artists." That last part has already begun — Chromeo's video for "Come Alive" and Wiz Khalifa's "We Dem Boyz" single were premiered/unlocked using Shazam.

  • Arctic Monkeys Brit Awards 2014 Acceptance Speech

See Alex Turner's Mic-Dropping Album of the Year Acceptance Speech at the 2014 BRIT Awards

Arctic Monkeys picked up their fourth Best British Group and third Best British Album at the BRIT Awards on Wednesday, and singer Alex Turner marked the occasion with a memorable speech and a bona fide mic drop. After picking up the night's biggest honor for their September set AM, the 28-year-old SPIN Interview subject waxed poetic on one of his known favorite subjects:"That rock'n'roll, ay? That rock'n'roll, it just won't go away. It might hibernate from time to time, sink back into the swamp. I think the cyclical nature of the universe in which it exists demands that it acquiesce to some of its rules. But it's always waiting there, just around the corner, ready to make its way back through the sludge and smash through the glass ceiling, looking better than ever. Yeah, that rock'n'roll, it seems like it's faded away sometimes, but it will never die.

  • Oscars Bette Midler Performance Academy Awards 2014

Bette Midler Booked for Debut Oscars Performance

Bette Midler will make her Academy Awards performance debut on Sunday, March 2, at the 86th annual Oscars. Though she's been twice nominated for Best Actress over the years, she's yet to take the stage. Her most recent work placed her in the lead role of Broadway's I'll Eat You Last, about late Hollywood super-agent Sue Mengers."We are thrilled to have Bette perform on the Oscars for the very first time," Academy Award producers Craig Zadan and Neil Meron said in a statement, via The Hollywood Reporter.

  • Jel 'Breathe' Video Late Pass Anticon

Jel DJs With Fire (Literally) in 'Breathe' Video

Anticon beatsmith and MPC king Jel dropped Late Pass last year — a mostly instrumental opus that highlighted the Chicago-bred, Bay Area-based producer's remarkable knack for crafting richly textured head-bobbers that connect boom-bap's noisy past to the deep grooves of dub and the melodic might of psych. We shared the titular track back then, but now there's a video for "Breathe" to consider. "Don't get too comfortable," warns Jeffery "Jel" Logan, but the music has a hypnotic effect nonetheless. Meanwhile, the playful video clip follows the delinquent activities of three characters in animal masks armed with unusual weapons and a keen sense of rhythm.

  • Eric Church The Outsiders Billboard Chart Sales Top Ten

Eric Church Regulates the Charts With 'The Outsiders' No. 1

First! SPIN cover star Eric Church scores a No. 1 with his Essential-dubbed fourth album, The Outsiders. As our reviewer Michael Robbins wrote, the new set "has Tusk-magnitude ambition" and might make this Nashvillian "the first contemporary country act to remind you of Black Sabbath" to boot. And as Church himself put it in an interview with Rob Harvilla: "Ooh, there we go. One drop! That's warm on the nuts. WHOO!" Okay, he was talking about spilled coffee, but the words still seem to apply. I mean, the dude brought so much pyro to Jimmy Kimmell Live! he nearly burned the place down. Also, he's got the biggest sales figure of 2014 with 228,000 units moved, says Billboard. Dear world: gird your loins while this man's on top.2 to 10: So perhaps it's the power of that man's musk that's driven all other newcomers away from the top 10 this week. The rest are repeats, though not a bad bunch.

  • HTRK 'Blue Sunshine' Stream Psychic 9-5 Club

HTRK Radiate 'Blue Sunshine' on Velvety Post-Dubstep Single

On April 1, HTRK return with their first proper album as a duo. The Australian group — whose name is pronounced "Hate Rock" — suffered a massive blow during the recording of 2011's Work (Work Work), when founding member Sean Stewart was found dead in his home. But on the forthcoming Psychic 9-5 Club, Jonnine Standish and Nigel Yang create a work that, according to label Ghostly, "looks back on a time of sadness and struggle, and within that struggle they find hope and humor and love." A song like "Blue Sunshine," heard below, seems to exemplify that, wrapping sensual Sade-like vocals inside a black blanket of moody bass, terse atmosphere, and skittering percussion. "Healthy dose of inner peace," Standish coos out with a narcotic stickiness, "Blue rays." Check the track list below the player.HTRK, Psychic 9-5 Club track list:1. "Give It Up"2. "Blue Sunshine"3. "Feels Like Love"4.

  • Bleachers Jack Antonoff I Wanna Get Better fun Stream

Fun.'s Jack Antonoff Launches Bleachers With Ecstatic 'I Wanna Get Better'

Fun. co-founder Jack Antonoff has officially announced a solo project dubbed Bleachers. The spring will bring a proper album co-produced by the man himself along with John Hill (M.I.A., Phantogram, Wavves) and Vince Clarke (member of Depeche Mode, Yazoo, and Erasure), but for now you can hear "I Wanna Get Better," the ecstatic first taste of the thing. The debut single features cut-up piano and an array of odd samples, plus Antonoff's vocals, which range from shout-along anthemic to Brian Eno baritone. Also, there's a ripping guitar solo that feels plucked from the '80s, lines about friends getting high, and this sobering revelation: "I miss the days of a life still permanent." There also appears to be a thematic tie-in to "Bullet," by his old band Steel Train.
