  • Tim Lambesis As I Lay Dying Hitman Murder Plot Trial

As I Lay Dying's Tim Lambesis Claims Steroids Made Him Hire a Hitman

As I Lay Dying frontman Tim Lambesis has pleaded not guilty in response to charges that he attempted to hire a hitman in order to carry out the would-be murder of his wife. As reported in May, the Christian metalcore singer was picked up by police in Oceanside, California after he solicited an undercover police officer for the ill deed. Defense attorney Thomas Warwick claims Lambesis had been using steroids as a bodybuilding aid, and that the drugs warped his mind.According to prosecutors, as reported by Billboard, the vocalist emailed his wife Meggan last August expressing that he wanted a divorce. She supposedly later learned that he'd been having an affair. Lambesis then reportedly told a man at his gym she'd been keeping him from their three adopted Ethiopian children and hindering the breakup process, so he'd decided to search for a contract killer.

  • Four Tet 'Parallel Jalebi' Beautiful Rewind Stream

Four Tet Stokes a Sweetly Sticky Groove on 'Parallel Jalebi'

When he announced his forthcoming album Beautiful Rewind, Four Tet's Kieran Hebden made a point to keep the news low-key. No pre-order, no YouTube trailers, no iTunes stream, no Amazon deal, no Spotify, and "no last-minute Rick Rubin." Now we've got a second track to consider from the new set: "Parallel Jalebi," which extends to frills-free theme into aural territory. To start, darkly tinted sequences run across a spare drum snap, and female vocals wind in and out of the mix. The track then plays with subtle mood shifts and repetitive rhythm, stoking a mellower groove than first taste "Kool FM."Though Beautiful Rewind doesn't yet have a release date, it will arrive via Hebden's own Text imprint.

  • Best Coast 'I Don't Know How' Fade Away

Best Coast Sing of Tough Love on 'I Don't Know How'

Best Coast have shared the first new taste of their forthcoming mini-album Fade Away. The seven-song set is out October 22 and is preceded by "I Don't Know How." The song begins with a lilting pace as Bethany Cosentino sings of a lover who's just out-of-reach. Soon malt-shop swoon evolves into rock'n'roll rollick, and our heroine sing-shouts: "You see me everywhere, you walk around without a care / I don't know how." Echoes of Jenny Lewis and Stevie Nicks reverberate through the crunchy track. Best Coast will self-release next month's Fade Away, which will also include two previously released songs from their Record Store Day 2013 release: "Fear of My Identity" and "Who Have I Become." Stream "I Don't Know How" and "Who Have I Become" below, then check the track list.Best Coast, Fade Away track list:1. "This Lonely Morning"2. "I Wanna Know"3. "Who Have I Become"4.

  • Yuck 'Middle Sea' Video Glow Behold Tennis

Yuck Play Some (Literally) Mean Tennis in 'Middle Sea' Video

On Yuck's fuzz-churning single "Middle Sea," new frontman Max Bloom sings, "I don't want to live forever ... I want you now." The track's just-released video recasts that seemingly romantic line as a competitive taunt, as drummer Jonny Rogoff prepares to crush an opponent on the tennis court. Though he seems outmatched at first, our hero soon rattles the white-haired gentleman he's up against (no many how many tiny cups of orange-ade the fella chugs). Soon, things get ugly as egos are bruised and racquets are smashed. Watch the Michael Lawrence-directed clip above.Yuck's sophomore album, and first without Daniel Blumberg, Glow & Behold, is out October 1 via Fat Possum/Pharmacy. Yeah Yeah Yeahs and Beach House affiliate Chris Coady produces.

  • Declan O'Rourke 'Slieve Bloom' Mag Pai Zai Irish

Declan O'Rourke Shares Lush Bjork-Inspired Strummer 'Slieve Bloom'

Declan O'Rourke is long overdue for a stateside breakthrough. The Dublin-based singer-songwriter has three Irish top 10 albums under his belt and a way with words and strings that's earned him comparisons to Rufus Wainwright and Glen Hansard, plus staggeringly high praise from Paul Weller, who said his "Galileo" is "possibly the greatest song written in the last 30 years." The album that delivered that rare gem is Mag Pai Zai (it will appear as a live version, the original is from O'Rourke's Since Kyabram), and it will finally see a U.S. release on September 24 (digital) and October 8 (physical) via Rimecoat/Missing Piece. In honor of the occasion, we're sharing "Slieve Bloom," a busy little heartfelt strummer inspired by Björk and featuring an attention to sylvan beauty that befits the reference. ("Slieve" is Gaelic for "mountain," by the way).

  • Bonde Do Role

Bonde Do Role Take Matt & Kim to the Favela on 'It's Alright' Remix

Matt & Kim's "It's Alright" is a perfectly representative slice of the Brooklyn dance-punk duo in 2013: His syrup-sweet vocals and her drum-line fireworks, topped off with a thick patina of glossed horn blurts, melodies that mimic air-raid sirens, and a slight hint of tropical pop. "Maybe we're going nowhere fast," sings Matt Johnson, "Maybe we never even touched the gas." Leave it to Bonde Do Rolê to put pedal to the metal. The Brazilian baile-funk posse have reworked that Lightning LP standout for the forthcoming Lightning Remixes set, due October 1 via FADER Label and featuring that aforementioned Adam and Eve-inspired cover (yes, the one that finds Johnson and Kim Schifino naked as the day they were born).

  • Ariel Pink 'Bad Vibes' Score Werewolf Movie John Landis

Ariel Pink Will Score a Movie About Werewolf Hippies Called 'Bad Vibes'

The Los Angeles-bred avant-rockist and purported chillwave godfather is making his inaugural venture into the film world with Bad Vibes, a SpectreVision production. That's the company formerly known as Woodshed, run by Elijah Wood and partners Daniel Noah and Josh C. Waller. Best of all, John Landis of horror-comedy classic An American Werewolf in London is signed on as executive producer.Peep the awesome synopsis:Bad Vibes is set in the psychedelic rock scene of the late '60s, where Sunrise Majesty is at the top of the charts with their message of "free love" for all. • Crystal Fighters 'Wave' Charli XCX Twin Idol Stream

Charli XCX Converts Crystal Fighters' 'Wave' Into Neon Syrup

The last time we heard Charli XCX and production pal TWIN iDoL team up for a remix, they turned Lindstrøm's upbeat "Fāār-i-kāāl" into a snapping, swaggering pop shadow of its former self. (This was a good thing.) Now they've added their drippy, neon touch to a more obscure track: "Wave," by Crystal Fighters, the Spain via England folktronica quartet who specialize in a thing called Cave Rave. The occasion? After postponing her U.S. tour to travel with Paramore, Charli XCX has rescheduled her stateside dates. The True Romance star will be sharing bills with Ryan Hemsworth's pal LIZ (also a serious Backstreet Boys fan, it would seem) and synthpunk band Kitten (revisit "Like a Stranger). Most recently, Charli's songwriting chops as heard on Iconapop's "I Love It" landed her a spot contributing to the next Britney Spears record.
