  • Hit-Boy Amanda Bynes Jay-Z Somewhereinamerica Remix Rockie Fresh

Jay-Z Producer Hit-Boy Does His Own Amanda Bynes Edition of 'Somewhereinamerica'

Earlier this week Hit-Boy dropped "New Chains," a reworking of Kanye West's "New Slaves" that found the SoCal producer showing of his very able skills as a rapper. The 26-year-old's biggest credits to date have been in service of Ye's G.O.O.D. Music collective, but the man wrapped his contract before Yeezus came together, so his touch was absent from that impressive platter. Hit-Boy's name pops up, however, on Jay-Z's Magna Carta Holy Grail — specifically on one of the three (give or take) worthwhile songs, "Somewhereinamerica."Here, he repeats his earlier trick, recording fresh verses to the original track and this time bringing along a friend: Chicago Maybach Music Group MC Rockie Fresh.

  • DJ Spinn DJ Rashad 'She Turnt Up' Kitty Pryde Video

DJ Rashad and DJ Spinn Party With Kitty in 'She Turnt Up' Video

Chicago footwork king DJ Rashad and his ghetto-house Teklife crew compatriot DJ Spinn have teamed up for "She Turnt Up," a sufficiently wavy trunk-rattler replete with trapped drum kits and hypnotic repetition. The track revolves around the misadventures of the titular woman: "She off the molly, smoking reggie, sipping orange juice / She bust it open for the bros, your ho be getting loose." So it's not a particularly feminist message, but it is undeniably celebratory. Oddly, Kitty (née Pryde) is one of the central figures in the accompanying Jon Casey-directed music video, which finds our musical guides hopping from venue to house party to club to "summer trap festival," according to the YouTube description. Booties get oiled, booties get slapped, people get high, and booties do clap. The visuals are as psychedelically swirling as the track itself at times. The weekend has arrived.

  • YACHT Eric Andre Dr. MDMA, M.D. Mixtape Adult Swim

YACHT and Eric Andre Advocate for 'Medical Crystal Meth' in 'Dr. MDMA, M.D.' Mixtape

Gonzo comic and Adult Swim television host Eric Andre has teamed up with DFA disco revisionists YACHT to create a 48-minute mixtape chock full of smooth grooves and medical advice. Dubbed Dr. MDMA, M.D., the 13-track set features highlights from sources as seemingly disparate as Can founder Holger Czukay and house music upstart Julio Bashmore, plus "drops" from Andre in which he reveals such profound truths as "I have HPV. Most people do," and "I don't ... I don't exactly have my medical license." Still, we're fairly sure the Adult Swim-assisted mix will cure some ailments — summertime blues, dance malaise, and self-seriousness chief among them. The collaboration comes in honor of a pair of live gigs that Andre and YACHT are sharing: July 16 at Los Angeles' Fonda Theatre, and July 20 at the house of Blues in San Diego in collaboration with Comic-Con.

  • Damon Albarn Alex Kapranos Nick Zinner Fresh Touch Latest Style Stream

Damon Albarn's Supergroup Song Is Disappointing, But at Least It's for Charity

Earlier this week, we alerted you to the forthcoming Fresh Touch track set to include contributions from Blur/Gorillaz mastermind Damon Albarn, Franz Ferdinand's charismatic singer Alex Kapranos, Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitar-slayer Nick Zinner, and the bass god Flea. That song, called "Latest Style" is now streaming below and it is immensely disappointing. None of those able men do any of the things that they're famous for, instead turning in what sounds like a pretty cool field recording from an African village. There's a whole lot of percussion, some stringed tinkering, a little bit of electronic buzz, some melodic lines, and the charming warbles of the Shiromeda Polyphonic Singers.

  • don't talk to kanye

    Don't Talk to Kanye!

Wearing his magical Gray Hoodie of Anonymity, Kanye West attempted to make it through the Los Angeles International Airport without harassment today (July 12), but his efforts were thwarted by a member of TMZ's Celeb-Auguring Coven. The paparazzo began by addressing the man as Yeezus, and attempted to butter him up with some casual flattery. But West wasn't having it. Not in the least. In a rant that begs to be AutoTuned (Gawker has already turned it into poetry), Ye began, "Don't talk. I appreciate it ... but don't talk." He went on along those same lines, reaching a crescendo of sorts toward the end, when he said, "Don't talk to anyone I know at all. And tell everybody never talk to anyone that anyone knows. Don't talk to themselves. Don't talk ever again." Then, when pressed about a sequel to Watch the Throne he made a strategic lunge at the camera.

  • Insomniac Los Angeles EDC Lawsuit Coliseum Pasquale Rotella

City of Los Angeles Loses Lawsuit Against Electric Daisy Carnival Promoters

A Los Angeles judge has thrown out a civil lawsuit aimed at rave promoters initiated by groups within city government. In late 2011, the Coliseum Commission sued Insomniac founder Pasquale Rotella (the man behind Electric Daisy Carnival) and Go Ventures main brain Reza Gerami (Together as One) for civil conspiracy, fraud, unfair business practices, and shady accounting regarding their alleged involvement with a kickback scheme benefiting former Coliseum events manager Todd DeStefano.L.A. Superior Court Judge Terry A. Green ruled that the plaintiffs had failed to prove that such a conspiracy existed. "I don't see a shared intent to do a civil wrong in this case.

  • Miguel Jessie Ware Adorn Remix Single UK

Hear Miguel and Jessie Ware's Lovely Fake Duet on Revamped 'Adorn'

Two of SPIN's favorite alt-R&B risers of 2012 have come together. London post-dubstep singer Jessie Ware now officially adorns a version of "Adorn" by Los Angeles auteur (and Mariah Carey step-stool) Miguel. Unfortunately, it seems to be an after-the-fact duet — nothing's noticeably changed about the original single, implying that Ware merely went into the studio and layed down her beautiful oohs and ahhs on top of what was already there. Of course, who could blame her for not wanting to get too close to the man considering his penchant for adorning women's faces with his flying junk? After all, that's where lawsuit babies come from.
