Download Vic Mensa's Triumphantly Tongue-Twisting 'Innanetape' Now

Former Kids These Days frontman Vic Mensa has been steadily carving out his solo identity within Chance the Rapper's SAVEMONEY crew. The Chicago MC has blessed us with — deep breath — bubbly "Orange Soda," the good life-celebrating "Hollywood LA," the Rockie Fresh-featuring "Time Is Money," the Eliza Doolittle-sporting "YNSP," and the decidedly upbeat "Lovely Day." All of those and nine other tracks can now be heard in one handy free release, Innanetape (that's "Internet" and "mixtape" slurred together), available for download via DatPiff and Illroots.

  • Toro y Moi 'Rose Quartz' Video Anything in Return

Toro y Moi Becomes a Painting in 'Rose Quartz' Video

Toro y Moi has kept fairly busy since the release of his dance-informed third album Anything in Return. He's delivered a Laurel Canyon gem with "Campo." He officially remixed Billie Holiday's "My Man." He even recorded a cover of Ricky Gervais' original The Office song, "Slough." Now we return to the LP with a colorful new video for "Rose Quartz." Created by Lauren Gregory, the clip is a series of painted panels brought to life, finding project mastermind and SPIN interviewee Chaz Bundick turned into a series of grinning smears, playing keys and delivering ace dance moves while an imaginary band cranks out the throbbing grooves.

  • Gucci Mane Six Months Jail Probation Rehab Gun Drugs

Gucci Mane Headed to Jail for Latest Probation Violation

Last week Gucci Mane made an attempt to explain his erratic actions of late. After delivering one of the most epic and tragic Twitter rants in history and getting arrested for carrying drugs and a gun, the rapper born Radric Davis returned to Twitter in order to apologize to those he'd offended (a very long list) and admit that he has a problem with abusing codeine cough syrup.

  • Sia the Weeknd Diplo 'Elastic Heart' Hunger Games Catching Fire

Sia Soars With the Weeknd and Diplo on 'Elastic Heart'

The Hunger Games: Catching Fire hits theaters November 22 and with an original soundtrack full of heavy-hitters. The first taste of it came with Coldplay's star-gazing "Atlas" and now we have a collaborative track from an impressive trio. "Elastic Heart" unites "Diamonds" writer Sia, Kiss Land R&Bist the Weeknd, and Major Lazer main brain Diplo under the roof of a single bubbling ballad that, yes, feels aptly cinematic. With lyrics about biting the dust, trusting no one, and conquering love, the song also seems like a perfect fit for this particular film franchise.

  • Michael Cera Islands Meredith Brooks Bitch Cover

Watch Michael Cera and Islands Actually Cover Meredith Brooks' 'Bitch'

Last week, Michael Cera appeared in a mockumentary celebrating Islands, whose fifth album Ski Mask is freshly out on Manque. This week, that band's main brain Nick Thorburn returns the favor by appearing in the Arrested Development star's "Bitch," which, believe it or not, is a cracked cover of the 1997 single of the same name by Meredith Brooks. The chronology of the video exchange could be a little off — former Islands drummer Luc Laurent appears — but the clip is timeless in its own way.Cera and Thorburn, who played in Mr. Heavenly together, pluck guitar and bass, respectively, while comedienne Jenny Slate (Parks & Recreation) sings lead. The very VHS-y looking footage finds the band (dubbed Molly the Daves) playing in a wood-paneled basement and hanging out at the park.

  • Sky Ferreira Drugs Arrest Addict Interview DIIV Boyfriend

Sky Ferreira Denies Addict Accusation, Discusses Drug Arrest

Just over a week ago pop starlet Sky Ferreira and her boyfriend, DIIV's Zachary Cole Smith, were arrested while driving to the Basilica SoundScape festival in upstate New York. The charges were certainly unflattering. His: holding 42 decks (up to 15 grams per) of heroin, and driving with a stolen license plate. Hers: possession of ecstasy, and resisting arrest. Until now, the couple's only attempt to address the incident publicly came via the DIIV Twitter account:what you're reading is a police blotter, not the outcome of a court case. these cops wanted to fuck us, and they did. sky did nothing wrong.— DIIV (@DIIV) September 16, 2013Now, Ferreira has spoken out in an interview with Billboard, again emphasizing that the Saugerties police, who pulled Smith over for what they called "several vehicle and traffic infractions" — were out to get them.

  • CHVRCHES Internet Sexism Casual Feminism Editorial Essay

CHVRCHES on the Internet: Stop the Misogyny

CHVRCHES' singer is stricking back against the glut of sexist messages the Glaswegian band regularly receives via social networking and online comment threads. Lauren Mayberry, who holds a Masters in journalism, has written an editorial for The Guardian in which she calls out the atrocious behavior she's witnessed on the Internet since the group launched in October 2011."I am in a band that was born on the internet," she begins, explaining that she and her bandmates Iain Cook and Martin Doherty field their fan interactions personally because "the blogosphere and social networks have arguably been the key reasons anyone knows about us at all." But the good comes with a whole heaping lot of bad, she reveals."Last week, I posted a screengrab of one of the many inappropriate messages sent to the band's social networks every day," Mayberry writes, referencing a solicitous message sh

  • Forest Swords 'Thor's Stone' Video Engravings

Forest Swords Birth Dancing Man-Baby in Creepy 'Thor's Stone' Video

England's Forest Swords released his Engravings LP debut in late August, but the excellent album has delivered a new gift. The first sign that the elusive SPIN feature star Matthew Barnes had returned was an early share called "Thor's Stone," which came out the gate walking a "very thin line between hip-hop instrumental and left-field rock drone," tapping into the elemental as it plods through a verdant, earthen soundscape. That dubwise delight now gets a music video courtesy of director Dave Ma (Foals, Movement, the Horrors), and the treatment similarly combines the organic and the unnatural to entrancing results. Therein, we find Madrid-based dancer Guzman Rosado in the middle of downtown Los Angeles at night. As the music begins, he emerges from a fetal position in fits and starts, born of the song, moving to its strange rhythms.

  • Katy B 5 AM Video Album Single

Katy B Has Her Eyes Wide Shut in Creepy '5 AM' Video

Katy B has plans to close out 2013 with her sophomore album — a set that's still without a title, but which is giving us every reason to get enthused. We were first introduced to her exuberant single "What Love Is Made Of," which then reappeared in a fast and furious video full of drag racing, and again as a devastatingly sweet unplugged piano-enhanced clip. "5 AM" followed exhibiting a different theme: love as a heady and dangerous thing, backed by a score of slightly off-kilter dance music. In the just-released video for the song, that idea is writ large as a woozy, anxiety-addled romp at a very unusual party. The scene borrows heavily from Eyes Wide Shut as Katy B moves through crowds of creepy hosts and revelers in features-twisting masks. Primal dancing, intoxicating drink, and lurky strangeness abounds. Will our heroine make it out unscathed? Watch above to find out.

  • Beck performs at Station to Station

Beck, Dan Deacon, No Age Thrill at Levi’s Station to Station Innovation

Last night the circus came to Los Angeles, but it wasn't your usual fare. Instead of tiptoeing elephants and performing seals, people were the focus — and not even freaks. Sure, there was a fella with a whip at one point, but he was only cracking that thing to the beat of a small marching band's thump 'n' thud. And those smart enough to follow the procession were rewarded handsomely for taking the chance. There, in the center of historic Union Station's idyllic courtyard were a pair of art-punk shred-men known to locals (okay, and fans all over) as No Age.
