February 4, 2013 – Local Natives recorded their fairly masterful sophomore album Hummingbird in Brooklyn at the home of the National's Aaron Dessner, so when the Los Angeles band touched down at the Music Hall of Williamsburg on Friday night, it was a bit of a homecoming. That "drum-circle brawn and chamber-pop beauty" our own Rob Harvilla described in his review of the record came to life not only for those in the house, but those in their actual houses around the country thanks to a gorgeous HD live stream that we can all now watch at will for the next couple of days. (The 48-hour re-broadcast began on Monday, February 4 at 9 a.m.

February 4, 2013 – Nick Cave's world is a place of poles: sinners and saints, good and evil, kind acts and dirty deeds — the latter occasionally dolled out from poles, as it were. One gets the feeling that "Jubilee Street" is home to more than a few dank venues sporting well-shined, ahem, vertical banisters, but the lead character in this Bad Seeds song is more the "takes her work home with her" sort and, in the video above, her primary client is a corpulent suited man who clearly knows he's in the wrong part of town. Actor Ray Winstone (The Departed, Cold Mountain) plays that part while John Hillcoat (The Road) directs. Both, of course, were on hand for Cave's 2005 feature film-writing debut, The Proposition, and the clip for "Jubilee Street" captures a similar level of grit without employing even a bit of gore.

February 4, 2013 – It's a testament to Lady Gaga's guile as the rising supervillainess Queen of the Universe that just as the Internet shows signs of being bored by her antics, the dastardly details of her August 6 court deposition are revealing themselves. As noted last week, the Mother Monster's former best friend and assistant Jennifer O'Neill is suing Gaga for more than $300,000 for unpaid overtime hours. It's unclear whether her claims are bogus, but the Lady has taken the low road, characterizing her ex-employee as a "hood rat" who's just upset that she can no longer suckle at the champagne teat.As if that batshit transcript wasn't enough, Celebuzz has tracked down an additional document from the trial: the Queen's tour rider, which is as obnoxious and opulent as you'd expect for someone who needs an entire team of people to help her find a single toothbrush.

February 4, 2013 – Pulp's almost forgotten We Love Life-era B-side, "After You," has been experiencing an astounding second life. When we first heard the thing, we noted that it offered a glut of "reasons to keep coming back for more," but that was before we learned that the disco-blasted track had been fittingly produced by LCD Soundsystem glitter-guru James Murphy. Now, 12 years on from the last Pulp album and sessions that birthed the song's demo, "After You" is up on iTunes. Meanwhile, for immediate gratification (since this is Pulp we're talking about here), you can watch Jarvis Cocker and co. perform the new old one on England's The Jonathan Ross Show Saturday night — their first TV appearance (despite what the host says) since the last one.

February 1, 2013 – In August, Four Tet rounded up his recent batch of dance tracks via the amply strong long-player, Pink. But while those outside of the London beat scene are still working to digest those "variously spongy, mossy, downy, wispy, and woody" tracks — each of which was very sensibly named, it should be noted — the man born Kieran Hebden has served up a brand new platter of minimal grooves with an incredibly maximal name:"The Track I've Been Playing That People Keep Asking About and That Joy Used in His RA Mix and Daphni Played on Boiler Room."To unpack the track's handle for the uninitiated, the "Joy" in question is house-stepping Animal Collective fave Joy Orbison, who delivered an excellent podcast to electronic music magazine Resident Advisor (the "RA Mix") in October.

February 1, 2013 – Though known to be in the business of living fast and dying young, even the baddest of girls no doubt on occasion feels the need to slow things down just a bit. But where, pray tell, might they look for some much needed respite? Just ask M.I.A. "I spy with my little eye / Something that can get you high," the Tamil tigress rhymes in the opening seconds of her previously unreleased "Bad Girls"-era track, "Doobie." Timbaland protégé Danja (Britney Spears, Björk) produced both songs and shared the new one yesterday as part of his "Throwback Thursday" leak series.

February 1, 2013 – He's already booked to return to the Grammys stage as a performer after a four-year hiatus on February 10, but that same night, Justin Timberlake will extend his 20/20 Experience comeback for a live concert at the Hollywood Palladium. Newlywed Timberlake announced the show on Twitter Friday (February 1). Tickets go on sale Saturday, February 2 at noon PST, and don't run cheap at $118.50 a pop (fees included). And it doesn't look like us music journalists are going to catch a break, either: In a subsequent tweet Timberlake stipulated that the show is "Fans only!"And guess who else is best suited to help usher in JT's return?

February 1, 2013 – UPDATE: The original video has been removed, but a YouTube user has separated and shared the individual audio tracks, which are streaming below.The last time we heard nine minutes of ambient techno pulse accompanying the carefully casual steps of male models on the catwalk, Jamie xx was the man behind the boards, and Kenzo was the designer. A mere two weeks later, and a new entry has arrived: Thom Yorke and Nigel Godrich (Atoms for Peace bandmate, Radiohead producer) have whipped up their own mellow mix for Rag & Bone's Fall 2013 menswear show, via Fader. The relatively frills-free audio seems tailor-made to accompany the muted vibes of the clothing. You can witness that less than thrilling interplay in the clip above, though brace yourself for the final two minutes, in which all of that cool ruminative electronica gives way unexpectedly to Curtis Mayfield's "Move On Up."
