  • ScHoolboy Q 'Oxymoron' Billboard Charts Beck Kid Cudi

ScHoolboy Q Is No. 1 and Beck Isn't Far Behind

First! In our own Top Dawg Ent. fan-fiction fantasy, Kendrick Lamar and ScHoolboy Q are playfully running the dozens on each other right now. Because although 2012's truly great good kid, m.A.A.D city sold more than 100,000 more copies than the just-out Oxymoron (139K, according to Billboard), it didn't have the singular distinction of being a No. 1 album. This week, Q is sitting on the throne thanks in part to a joint deal with Interscope and also due to the ferocity and intrigue projected by tracks like "Break the Bank," "Collard Greens," "Banger (MOSHPIT)," and "Hell of a Night." All of that, and the fact that he's in league with a time-traveling mad scientist (cross-reference: #hoverbort).2 to 10: In at No. 2 is the wickedly talented, one and only, Daisies Ferzguson. Er, Disney's Frozen (we Travoltafied that — thanks Slate).

  • Samo Sound Boy 'Open' 'Divine' Stream EP Body High

Hear Samo Sound Boy's Warehouse-Worthy 'Divine'

Los Angeles producer Samo Sound Boy co-founded the Body High label with Jerome LOL in order to give a home to dance music that's as melodically rich and smartly assembled as it is visceral, chest-thumping, and sweat-inducing. Finally, the underground-embraced imprint will make the leap from digital to physical with the man's own Open/Divine EP — a two-song set of analog house music that's due for a 12-inch vinyl release on March 18. Thankfully, you can already hear both tracks right here, right now. Below, you'll find the brand new share "Divine," a mellow but propulsive foray into the heart of the underground rave — glistening, heavy on atmosphere, colored by strange effects. And beneath that is the previously released "Open," via Fader, with its buzzing synths and cut-up voices. And for a cleaner look at the cover art:

  • White Hinterland 'Baby' Stream Single Album

Hear White Hinterland's Beautifully Pained 'Baby'

White Hinterland wowed us in January with "Ring the Bell," a poppy and heady wonder of a track hailing from her four-years-in-the-making April 1 album Baby. Now Stereogum has premiered that 10-song set's titular track, which similarly finds Casey Dienel's powerful voice coming through in melismatic waves. This particular song has a darker bent, both in tone (those skittering turntable-like hits, that brooding atmosphere) and in the lyrics: "Baby go on, I hope you do / Find a partner with the patience it takes to love you." There's also a drowning, and a heart-wrenching finish.

  • Beyonce 'Drunk in Love' Emoji Video Translation

Emoji Translation of Beyonce's 'Drunk in Love' Is Flawless

Beyoncé's supreme fifth album, lovingly dubbed Beyoncé, delivered an album's worth of gifts when it dropped unexpectedly late last year. Chief among those: the song "Drunk in Love," which has not only spawned countless surfbort hashtags, but some interesting interpretations — a remix from Kanye West, a remake by Future, a cover by Katy B, and an extended-for-your-pleasure version. Now the track's sex-dripping video gets replaced by an emoji interpretation of the lyrics, and the results are pretty damn incredible. Marvel at Jesse Hill's feat above while listening to the unofficial new theme song of the ASP.

  • Lorde Son Lux Easy Switch Screens Stream

Lorde and Son Lux Collaborate on Menacing 'Easy (Switch Screens)'

In late January when a post-Grammys pop world was wringing its collective hands over the age of a certain starlet from New Zealand, we were marveling at the fact that Lorde covered a Son Lux song at her big homecoming gig. Now we don't know which came first, but the plot thickens as the two artists come together on a newly recorded version of that same track, "Easy," which hails from the New York composer/producer/singer's lovely Lanterns album. The revision, subtitled "(Switch Screens)" adds in Lorde's gothic coo and a whole lot of shreddy jazz guitar to rapturous results. None of this sounds like it was easy, but it ain't hard to love. The track comes as part of Son Lux's Alternate Worlds EP, which collects four reworked takes on his recent material. You can actually stream the entire thing below, via Bandcamp.

  • Thurston Moore Kim Gordon Affair Eva Prinz Separation

Thurston Moore Is 'Truly Happy' With Eva Prinz

Thurston Moore has at last spoken on his separation from Sonic Youth co-founder Kim Gordon and his extramarital relationship with art book editor Eva Prinz. In an interview with The Fly, he mostly focused on the present: "I'm in a really romantic place with Eva; we've kinda been a couple for close to six years. A lot of those years, nobody was very aware of it except us. The cat's been out of the bag a while now."Last year in an interview with ELLE, Gordon characterized her husband's relationship with Prinz a little differently. "We seemed to have a normal relationship inside of a crazy world," she said. "And in fact, it ended in a kind of normal way — midlife crisis, starstruck woman." Moore and his current partner are currently living together in London. He declined to respond to Gordon's comments, but did elaborate further:"I've had some life issues," Moore said.

  • In the Valley Below Peaches Remix Kele Okereke Bloc Party Stream

Hear Bloc Party's Kele Transform In the Valley Below's 'Peaches' Into Dance Epic

In the Valley Below are compelling enough all on their own. Guitarist Jeffrey Jacob hails from Memphis, Tennesee. Keyboardist Angela Gail was raised in Muskegon, Michigan. And though it's not exactly clear whether or not they're a couple, the pair do make beer and sing together. Take "Peaches," the first single from their May 6 Capitol Records debut, Man Girl EP. The track could be about mutual attraction, or it could be about a refreshing summer fruit. That's where Kele Okereke comes in — on the remix you'll hear below, the Bloc Party singer recasts their synth-folk original as a seven-minute dance epic.

  • Chromeo 'Jealous (I Ain't With It)' Stream Oliver

Chromeo Are 'Jealous (I Ain't With It)' of Those Other Guys

Last we checked in with Chromeo, the Canuck funk cornballs were making out with mannequins in the video for "Come Alive." New song "Jealous (I Ain't With It)" might help explain that troubling behavior. On the latest share from White Women — out May 12 — Dave 1 sings about getting played by babe: "And is it really my fault / I get a shiver when I see her with those other guys / Wearing the jacket I bought / I can't help but lose my temper and I don't know why."Like "Sexy Socialite" and "Over Your Shoulder" before it, the new song showcases the duo's incredible knack for the same kind of catchiness and melodic might that made Hall & Oates so damn hard to ignore. They also get an assist from Los Angeles duo Oliver on the production. Stream below.

  • Eagulls 'Possessed' Video Album Vandalism

Eagulls Score a Vandal's Fantasy in 'Possessed' Video

Eagulls are booked for SPIN's House of Vans SXSW day party and it's not hard to see why. In the video above, the English post-punk crew share "Possessed," a wickedly chiming and bright-yet-brooding highlight from their self-titled album, due Tuesday on Partisan Records. The Plastic Zoo-directed clip also speaks to the group's wild character — revisit "Tough Luck" for more — as a restless youth vents his angst via vandalism and the camera captures it all with cinematic flair. Pre-order the 10-song set on iTunes.

  • Dave Grohl Taylor Greenwood Sing You to Sleep Video

See Dave Grohl and Taylor Greenwood 'Sing You to Sleep'

If you don't know Taylor Greenwood, you're forgiven. The Los Angeles singer-songwriter has fewer than 100,000 views on YouTube — most of those coming from covers — but Dave Grohl is trying to change that. The Foo Fighters boss and Nirvana drummer (and Sound City director, and Zac Brown Band collaborator) appears in the intimate video above to help perform a song that he wrote with Greenwood, "Sing You to Sleep." Sales for the dreamy lullaby will fittingly benefit Project Night Night, a charity that delivers care packages stuffed with toys, books, and blankets to homeless children. The song is offered at a pay-what-you-want rate through Greenwood's website. According to Rolling Stone, who premiered the video, Grohl was so moved by one of the artist's recent performances that he introduced himself and offered to help out with her debut album.
