  • Dave Grohl Baby Daughter Ophelia Saint Jordyn Blum

Dave Grohl Welcomes the Tiniest Foo Fighter, Daughter Ophelia Saint

Dave Grohl and wife Jordyn Blum have welcomed a third daughter into the world. Ophelia Saint Grohl was in fact born on August 1, though the news was kept quiet until US Weekly dug up the information and shared on Wednesday. They belatedly found out via a Facebook post from The David Grohl Alley Scholarship Program, whose title references an honrary art installation in the man's hometown of Warren, Ohio."Bittersweet news," reads the August 8 post, "congratulations David Grohl and Jordyn Blum who have welcomed a new baby girl #3 Ophelia Grohl! The Lord giveth and the Lord taketh away!!" An earlier post acknowledged the death of Grohl's father, 75, a former newsman and political consultant who passed away peacefully with family by his side on August 6: "R.I.P. my friend James Harper Grohl who passed yesterday at 5 a.m.

  • Richest Bassists Krist Novoselic Nirvana Worth List

Nirvana's Krist Novoselic Is the 10th Richest Bassist in the Game

Nirvana's Krist Novoselic is supposedly the 10th richest bassist, period. This via The Richest, which appears to have taken the recent-ish Forbes  tactic (see yesterday's highest-earning DJ rundown) and created an entire website around money lists. They don't identify their sources, and we can't be sure which other bass-slappers were considered, but there's at least a sort of logical flow to those included. To wit, the No. 1 spot goes to Paul McCartney, worth a supposed $1.2 billion. Similarly the No. 2 rung is occupied by two other frontmen: KISS blowhard Gene Simmons and Sting of the Police, tied at $300 million. So how much is Novoselic worth? If that shirt doesn't scream $40 million, we're not sure what does. The bottom five:10. Nirvana's Krist Novoselic – $40 million9. No Doubt's Tony Kanal – $45 million8. Black Sabbath's Geezer Butler – $65 million7.

  • A-Trak Flan Emoji Taylor Swift Odd Future Video Daily Mail

Newspaper Mistakenly Identifies A-Trak as 'Flan Emoji,' of Odd Future

This is A-Trak. He's holding a microphone here, but he doesn't rap. He's a super-talented turntablist who now mostly makes dance music:He is not a member of Odd Future Wolf Gang. He rolls with a Duck Posse instead:He might know L.A. MC Earl Sweatshirt, but spends more time with guys like Diplo:He uses funny avatar names on Twitter sometimes, and has opinions about things:Earl Sweatshirt, of Odd Future, also had some thoughts on Swift's "Shake It Off" video.perpetuating black stereotypes to the same demographic of white girls who hide their prejudice by proclaiming their love of the culture— EARL (@earlxsweat) August 19, 2014And so, thanks to The Daily Mail, the second-biggest newspaper in the U.K., this happened:To quote Pigeons and Planes, R.I.P. fact-checking. But at least there's this.

  • Ariana Grande Stream Weeknd Love Me Harder My Everything

Ariana Grande Teases Adult Themes With the Weeknd and Cashmere Cat

Each child-star's journey into adulthood is a unique thing — perhaps most often analogous to a snowflake that sees its first sunlight, melts down, and then shaves its head and/or starts twerking on things. So it's with bated breath that we attend the debutante's coming-out that is this forthcoming Ariana Grande album, My Everything, due Monday, August 25. She has already acknowledged that she's physically visited by demons, and considering she's poised for a big performance at the MTV VMA on Sunday, we can't help think about last year's belle of the ball, Miley Cyrus. We have no idea what's going to happen, but perhaps there's something to be learned from the four new Grande songs below.

  • Drake Nicki Minaj Marina Abramovic Chair Anaconda Meme

Here's the Drake vs. Marina Abramovic Sitting Meme You've Been Waiting For

This morning, Nicki Miniaj's "Anaconda" music video arrived featuring Drake sitting in a chair. In 2010, performance artist Marina Abramović announced a Museum of Modern Art installation that featured Marina Abramović sitting in a chair. Very different things happened in the presence of those chairs. To wit, here's Drizzy's experience:Meanwhile, Abramović pretty did exactly this for 700 hours, because art:While she proved that a previously thought-to-be-impossible feat was the kind of thing that could be handled sitting down, we're fairly certain Drake couldn't stand for a similarly lengthy spell in his seat while teased by Minaj. Plus, like, if butt cramps aren't yet a thing, they would be after 29 days worth of grinding and jiggling one's hindquarters.

  • Arcade Fire Cover Pixies 'Alec Eiffel' Video Boston Tour

Arcade Fire Climb Pixies' Punky 'Alec Eiffel' for Yet Another Cover

Every day is Arcade Fire day with the Reflektor band still on the road, seemingly caught in a strange nether-dimension wherein the only way out is to cover a song by every band of note that's ever existed (maybe that's what the Orpheus theme is all about?). But if we were going to skip one of these cover songs posts, it certainly wouldn't be this one. Seen above, the Canuck orch-pop ensemble sets down in Mansfield, Massachusetts, and lays down a spirited, extra-punky version of "Alec Eiffel" by Pixies, who hail from Boston. The 1991 alt-rock track gets props (in dancing form) from President Barack Obama and Pope Francis (in bobblehead form), before Arcade Fire launch into "Here Comes the Night Time." Watch that above, and Pixies' original Trompe le Monde-era video below. For more covers from Win Butler and Co., walk out your door.

  • Steve Ballmer Clippers Eminem Walkout Video Owner Lose Yourself

Watch New Clippers Owner Steve Ballmer Lose Himself to Eminem

The Los Angeles Clippers publicly welcomed their new owner today, and his batshit amazing entrance proves he's absolutely nothing like the cranky racist dick who's leaving. Seen below around the 29-minute mark (originally, it was 02:46:00, but it seems the clip's been edited down), former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer makes a hand-slapping, fist-pumping, face-bending walk-out that seemed more fit for the WWE than the NBA. But we'll take it. Especially since he chose Eminem's "Lose Yourself" as the soundtrack to all that manic wilding. And even though Beats guys Dr. Dre and Jimmy Iovine were supposedly interested in purchasing the team, this is more hip-hop than either could've mustered. Well, more Randy Savage meets Hulk Hogan, at least. Watch and weep, Donald Sterling.

  • Michael Cera Music True That Album Interview

Q&A: Michael Cera on DIY Album-Making and Identifying With Skrillex

Last week, the respective worlds of home-recording buffs and awkward-comedy fans were unexpectedly, thoroughly bridged when actor Michael Cera released his first solo album to Bandcamp. Dubbed True That, the 18-track set finds the Arrested Development star plucking strings, plinking on keys, and singing playful little ditties with a tinge of sadness and a hint of left-field folksiness (the melancholic "Ruth" made the SPIN Singles Mix). It's a fine set of songs, but we're not surprised — Cera's never hidden his musical inclinations. He's played bass with Mister Heavenly, covered the Moldy Peaches for Juno, and starred as the titular band guy in Scott Pilgrim vs. the World. We even interviewed him in 2007 about his Clark and Michael musical duo the Long Goodbye. Still, this is different. It's got his name on it, and isn't attached to a screen project.

  • Mikky Ekko 'Smile' Stream Time Album

Stream Mikky Ekko's Gleaming Soul-Pop 'Smile'

"Smile, the worst is yet to come," coos Nashville pop/soul man Mikky Ekko on his brand new song, "Smile." The SPIN Best New Artist alum is at last gearing up to release his debut album, Time, via RCA Records, this fall, and we're hoping it'll include the Clams Casino collaboration that put him on our map, "Pull Me Down." Of course, it was his stellar voice-and-piano turn on Rihanna's "Stay" that positioned him square on top of the globe. And now, Ekko's got a lot to look forward to, even if his latest offering features such a foreboding line. And to be fair, "Smile" is very bright sounding — a sunny song that about living in the moment that, musically, expands ever outward while marching forward to a stomp-along beat.

  • Flying Lotus You're Dead Video Trailer Snoop Dogg Shintaro Kago

Hear Snoop Rap in Flying Lotus' Gory/Glorious Album Trailer

As we learned earlier this week, Flying Lotus' October 7 album You're Dead! not only features the eye-boggling artwork of Japanese artist Shintaro Kago, but musical contributions from Kendrick Lamar, Herbie Hancock, Snoop Dogg, Angel Deradoorian, Thundercat, and Niki Randa. Also: the Los Angeles electronica guru's Captain Murphy rap alias will make a couple of appearances as well. We've got the full track list below, and snippets of the music above.Warning: the Kago-powered video above is decidely NSFW and not for the easily queasy either, or those prone to seizures. The gory but gorgeous imagery seen on FlyLo's Tumblr (there's a tarot-style card for each of the 19 songs) comes to life and flies by in a hail of blood, guts, nude bodies, creative vivisections, and wild colors.
